This Custom Field is confusing, and I'm pretty sure what I want is something that many, many shops should use.
What I want is a products with one custom field (colour) as a drop-down list.
Each colour needs it's own image and stock level.
How do I set this up in VirtueMart 2.0?

me too, it seems such a basic feature of a shopping cart yet virtuemart makes it so hard to understand how to do it. VM certainly is not user intuitive

It is very difficult and no one will give an answer which is very frustrating. I've been playing around with custom fields and child products for days with no luck. I've tried many variations and have now exhausted the options. Stock variant plugin simply doesn't work, child products don't update and to have this functionality in a shopping cart is very important if not critical for a lot of people. This is, I think, a very important necessary function that's either been over looked or ignored.
Is this possible to do or not? If not is it going to be possible or will there be a plugin?

good luck. i am looking for the same thing. I kind of see it as possible. I am working on a site now but I cannot see where to control the swatch sizes for the image options.
