Hello.
In the admin of VM (Configuration/Templates/Thumbnail image width") I entered 150 pix width for the thumbnails (blog of products of a category without details).
But the width of thumbnails in the frontend is still 58 pix.
I checked the box "Use VM css".
Where is the problem ?
Just delete the files in /images/stories/virtuemart/product
After that the thumbs will be regenerated in the right size.
i had the same problem, i deleted the images in /virtuemart/product but then the images was just missing at product page !?
I am having the same problem, see image attached....

Same problem, I want my thumbs to be larger but its just not doing it...

2 options:
Is your screen resolution high enough? VM resizes the thumbnails if the screen gets smaller.
Did you delete the original image ánd the thumbnail image from your FTP? It saves them on 2 different locations.

I deleted the thumbnails (with suffix 90x90). New files are created (with suffix 120x120) - but the size remains same.

Please suggest how to do this.

I am making the site on my PC using XAMPP. Deleting the thumbnail image did not work.
Please advise if there is any other method to do this.
ANOTHER QUESTION PLEASE :
When I press the thumbnail, it opens the original product image (magnified).
I was hoping that once image is magnified, user has option to go to "Next" or "Previous" image .
Please suggest how this can be done.
Thanks.
I deleted all images and re-uploaded. My screen size is just fine (Including scaling the web page).
I had too many issue with Virtuemart so I installed OpenCart (there is a mod for Joomla called AyelShop that works great). I'm a happy camper now.
have you examined the css thats around the image to make sure the container can accept a larger image?

Apologies - I am a beginner. Can u please run me through the process of how to do this? Thanks.
I am using Joomla 1.7.3 and VM 2.0
There is even a video to show beginners how to use Firebug, the tool we all use to look at code & css. http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=73348.0
Perhaps this helps a little bit:
There are two files affecting the thumbnail width:
...\components\com_virtuemart\views\category\tmpl\default.php
Starting around line 208 you will see:
// Show Products ?>
<div class="product floatleft<?php echo $Browsecellwidth . $show_vertical_separator ?>">
<div class="spacer">
<div class="width30 floatleft center">
You can change the "width30 floatleft center" i.e. to "width100 floatleft center"
------------------
Second file affecting the thumbnail is:
...\components\com_virtuemart\assets\css\vmsite-ltr.css
Around line 163 you will see:
.browse-view .row .product .spacer img,.related-products-view .row .product .spacer img{max-width:90%;height:auto;}
You can change the 90% value to 100%.
--------------------
Please also look in the VM2 forum section for "template overrides".
@ JJK :
Thanks a tonne .. This resolved the issue perfectly well . Wow !! :)
@ jenkinhill:
Thanks for sharing this . Will get myself educated so I can ask better questions ;)
Hope its not too much to ask - but could you please also spare some time on the following posts and guide a way out:
1. http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=96821.msg318487
2. When I press the thumbnail, it opens the original product image (magnified).
I was hoping that once image is magnified, user has option to go to "Next" or "Previous" image so the products can be viewed like a slideshow.
Please suggest how this can be done.

Hello Gruz,
Firstly, thanks for tagging me on the reply ! Really appreciate it ..
The solution you posted on
http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=97365.msg322269#msg322269
seems to be what I am looking for ..
However, I am using Joomla 1.7 and VM 2.0.0.
Here are 2 questions if you could please help answer:
1. Does this fix apply only if upgrade to VM 2.0.0 ?
2. When following the step :
" So copy
components/com_virtuemart/views/productdetails/tmpl/default.php
to
templates/YOURTEMPLATE/html/com_virtuemart/productdetails/default.php "
in my case templates/zt_opis17/html/ does NOT have the folder com_virtuemart !!
Please advise. Thanks.
Generally, any template doesn't have such a file: templates/YOURTEMPLATE/html/com_virtuemart/productdetails/default.php
You have to create it.
This should work for J1.7+VM2.0.0, but the chnages in the templates/YOURTEMPLATE/html/com_virtuemart/productdetails/default.php may differ a little. You need basic PHP skill to apply the described changes to a slitly another file.
Basically, you must apply appropriate change to templates/YOURTEMPLATE/html/com_virtuemart/productdetails/default.php which must be a copy of YOUR components/com_virtuemart/views/productdetails/tmpl/default.php, not to use the attached. The attached files is for another VM version and is just incompatible.
The second question http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=97365.new;topicseen#new is not clear to me.

I thought so too - but still doesn't work... Please refer http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=97365.msg322348#msg322348
Thanks a lot !!
