Title: Low Stock Warning in the browser window (not email)

Hi everyone,

Got this request for a new store: when an article is low in stock there should be a warning message/image/whatever in the backoffice. The store admin wants a visual warning, when logged in to the backoffice, when a product is low in stock.

I have seen ways to do this by sending an automatic email, which is IMHO somewhat simple compared to this request.

Any thoughts on how to do this or if this is even possible?

This could be accomplished by using a plugin. This would not be a requirement of all store owners so I don't think it should be part of the VM core. Such a plugin is not yet available, as far as I know, so would require writing.

Thank you so much for your answer. Even though I have worked through and changed both virtuemart and joomla code many times in order to change SW behaviour, I have never written a plugin from scratch. Can you please recommend any good resources?
