I found that after trying to replace a thumb nail, VM throws up the 500 internal server error. I checked and somehow the permissions on the main root folder had been changed to 777. I changed it back and was able to access my Joomla admin with an OMINOUS error message stating "Unable to delete 'public_html'.
This seems like a serious bug to me. Anyone?
Note: I'm using VM version: 2.0.0-RC-2i upgraded from VM version g.
Joomla: 1.523
Also, now there's an error on the top of a categories edit page in red stating: "vmError: Couldnt create thumb, file not found /home/xxxxxx/public_html/images/stories/virtuemart/category/conveyor system.jpg." In that folder is a file name that is similar but doesn't have the blank space.
It has the error message multiple times for the various category images that were already in place, all with a blank space where the underscore used to be.
To add to the issue, now no products are displaying on the front end, and the same error message is displaying on the front end.
Thanks!
Note: This is a repost from a different forum post that's under "Product Inserting".
Has anyone had this issue?
So I guess no one either has this issue or hasn't had time to try and replicate it. So can anyone point me in the right direction to solving it?
Thanks!
FOLLOW UP. This is replicatable. I installed a fresh copy of Joomla 1.524 and did a fresh install of VM 1.9.8. RCi and installed sample data.
Steps to replicate:
- Edit product category
- Images tab
- Click replace thumb radio button
- Browse to find any file
- Click apply or save
The same thing happens if you click "Replace Thumb" on a product image.
The results:
- public_html folder permissions changed to 777
- once permissions set back to normal, there's a message in the VM admin stating "Delete failed: 'public_html'"
This is a serious bug that I'm not sure where to post but hopefully someone see it here and can move it to the bug tracker.
thanks!
can you remove the picture,
THEN, replace in a separate step?
Not that I'm aware of. I deleted that install of Joomla/VM after testing it.
Thank you very much, interesting bug. So you tried to replace an image but there wasnt any?
It happens with or without an image already there as far as I can tell.
thanks for your hard work on VM!
