Title: French language pack
Post by: kinkaz on August 17, 2011, 17:26:28 PM
Hi,

I just installed VirtueMart and wanted to change the language into french. I tried to copy & paste the .ini files (in the language/fr-FR folder from joomla) which are listed in the main topic of this part of the forum (For Translators - Link to the latest language files in the trunk).
But still, didn't work.

Can you help me ?

Thanks,

kinkaz

The french language files are already included when you install VirtueMart2, so there is no need to copy the files.

The main french language backend language file is located at: ...\administrator\language\fr-FR\fr-FR.com_virtuemart.ini
The main french language frontend language file is located at: ...\language\fr-FR\fr-FR.com_virtuemart.ini

If you want to see VM2 in french you first have to install the french language pack for Joomla and then make french the default language in the Joomla language manager.

I downloaded the com_virtuemart_2.0-RC.zip  (from here -->http://dev.virtuemart.net/projects/virtuemart/files). I installed it. My default language in the language manager for Joomla is french, and it's still in english !
Note that I haven't got any fr-FR.com_virtuemart.ini in the folders you specified.

What's wrong with me ?  :P

Thanks

Download this one instead: http://dev.virtuemart.net/attachments/download/312/virtuemart1.9.8.RC2d_extract_first.zip (http://dev.virtuemart.net/attachments/download/312/virtuemart1.9.8.RC2d_extract_first.zip)
It still has a number of incompatibilities if you install it on J1.7. So even better than downloading this would be to follow the directions given here:
http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=89991.msg295280#msg295280 (http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=89991.msg295280#msg295280)
...or wait for the next release with more bug fixes.

Bonjour,

Hi coxi

The french version is done by the development team.
It is not provided in the package anymore.
You can download it from the svn.

You are welcome to give us feed back.

Just use the links provided here (the very first topic in this forum section): http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=89336.0 (http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=89336.0). You can open the fr-FR files and then right click with your mouse and select 'save as' (don't change the original filename).  ;)

Update:

...or install the french language file pack provided below with your Joomla 1.7 Extension Manager. (I didn't test if it also works with Joomla 1.5.23)
Language files are as of 25th September 2011
