I know there is a way to add a flat out fee but is there a way to make it charge the 2.9% processing fee? Someone (http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=30754.0) found out a way to do it but there is no link and his site is down. Anyone have any success with this?

I found a very simple way to do it after some research. go to product discount type in -2.9 and select percentage.
