How do I get a FedEx account & meter #?  I've looked everywhere on their site and all I see are references to their "web services".  If I register for a test key/production key under here, will I be contacting the correct server type (API server vs. web services)?

I got a hold of someone at Federal Express and indicated I needed access to the FedEx "API" server and he told me that the only way to get a meter number was to "register through the module".  Basically, he's telling me that there's some way to send a request through the module configuration.  I kept telling him that there is no such thing, but it didn't help. 

Can someone provide some guidance?

Additional info: according to tech support, it's the shopping cart that is supposed to initiate the meter number request.  Supposedly, Fedex stopped giving out meter numbers in mid-2007.?????

I have been told that meter numbers are not needed for Fed Ex integration. They are needed for Royal Mail in the UK.

The account number is given when you sign up with Fed Ex

It looks like signing up for a "production account" works for both the API Server & Web Services.  I appear to be communicating successfully with the FedEx servers now.

Call FedEx Tech Support at 1-877-339-2774, choose option 2, then say 'Other' at the first prompt, then 'None of these' at the 2nd prompt to get a live person. 

Then tell them you are using 3rd party software and you need your meter number.  They will ask for your Account Number and that's it.

Just for UK Customers - If you are a FedEx UK customer there is no API Integration offered. If you are a FedEx Express customer in the UK then you can use the API to integrate your shipping.

I think FedEx Us does offer an API integration, but you need to double check
