Deepsingh,

Firstly, you need to dramatically reduce the size (pixels) of this image. It is MASSIVELY too big - 2048 x 1536 pixels for God's sake - ridiculous.

Have you turned on lightbox in Virtuemart?

Actually, I have the same problem. When cliking on the image of the product list, a new window opens instead of a lightbox.

And... when clicking on the image of the product details, a ligtbox opens but somehow it is not at the front, there are other modules on from of it, how can i fix both of these??

Hi there,

I had the same problem and it was because of the modules loaded with product page. Try to disable modules loaded at the product page and see wheather the problem continue or not.

If lightbox would open with no problem, search for alternative modules that could make the same work as your modules do.

deepsingh, I am not sure how anyone can help if it works on your local server. I would have thought there can be only 2 reasons why it does not work now:

1) you have not uploaded everything correctly

2) there is a problem with the server configuration

Clearly, it is not a virtuemart problem if it works locally.

Not sure this thread landed at resolution.

If light box is set to on in configuration, does that necessarily mean that a light box will be used on image click on "category listing pages"?  Perhaps not.

I used the "no tables" include and assume they are all the same in regards to light box usage. I have zero other lightbox plugs or mods on the site.

Is there a definitive set of coding to a) have a light box on category list mode, b) if not, have the image link direct the user to the main product page.

Lot's of reading on this... will post anything helpful as I find it.

I am having the exact same problem and it reared it's ugly head up after upgrading to 1.1.3. I have Joomla 1.5, PHP 5.2.8, MySQL 5.06. Lightbox is enabled and as soon as you click the image it opens up in the same browser window without the Lightbox effect. I have disabled all modules that would appear on the same page and that still does not help. URL: https://shop.online-quilting.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=26&category_id=2&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=2.
As a side note the 'Add to Cart' 'lightbox/popup' works fine.
More 'food for thought' I checked with HTTP Live Headers and it appears as if the javascript that controls this is being downloaded.

Its probably the SEF component throwing it off,

Your SSL needs work, I get the standard popup error when clicking your link.

The site is still in development so I haven't installed an SSL yet, so I would expect the errors for that. However there is no SEF component installed and I have all Joomla SEF turned off (first thing I do when investigating this kind of problem). All caching is disabled as well, I had also disabled all front-end 3rd party plugins as well.

Well why not turn off the SSL in the virtuemart configuration?

Title: Re: Virtuemart lightbox problem
Post by: Scott Ackerman on February 08, 2009, 23:48:31 pm
SSL/HTTPS has nothing to do with the LightBox problem. I have taken the shop out of 'forced' HTTPS and tried with normal HTTP and the LightBox effect still does not work.

I have also used firebug and am getting the following:
1Failed to load source for sourceFile URLOnly http://shop.online-quilting.com/components/com_virtuemart/shop_image/product/10_inch_Clearvie_49108009a9931.jpg script.tags( ).

I am not getting a separate window opening so it appears as if the LightBox is 'trying' to work.

Sorry, I did find the solution to my problem. It was a template conflict. The template was using the MooTools JS library and was conflicting with the MooTools JS Library that VM uses. I wasn't using any of the MooTools functionality in the template so I simply removed the line invoking MooTools from the template and all was well. I would recommend trying the 'rhuk_milkyway' template that comes with Joomla 1.5 and see if your problem still persists. If it does, you have a template conflict as well. A good clue is that the photo opens up in the same frame when you click on it and not a new window. If it opens up in a new window then you have a different problem altogether.

I have been having this problem for the last four months and I finally got it resolved...

The problem is the line that looks like this when viewing the source is not loading properly:

<script src="/components/com_virtuemart/fetchscript.php?gzip=0&amp;subdir[0]=/themes/italomty&amp;file[0]=theme.js&amp;subdir[1]=/js&amp;file[1]=sleight.js&amp;subdir[2]=/js/mootools&amp;file[2]=mootools-release-1.11.js&amp;subdir[3]=/js/mootools&amp;file[3]=mooPrompt.js&amp;subdir[4]=/js/slimbox/js&amp;file[4]=slimbox.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

I added the following lines to my template header and it solved my problem:

  <script type="text/javascript" src="/includes/js/joomla.javascript.js"></script>
  <script type="text/javascript" src="/media/system/js/mootools.js"></script>

Thanks for this solution! It worked for me too. I've been pulling my hair out on virtuemart forums looking for some idea of the solution for days now and finally resolved itself as a template issue with my rockettheme solar sentinel theme. Added the lines of code above to my header and ouila! the lightbox appeared in virtuemart instead of the product details image opening up in a new window! Thanks again, now i can go onto other things!!

can anyone help which header file that has to be add on? thank you

You mean this?

I added the following lines to my template header and it solved my problem:

  <script type="text/javascript" src="/includes/js/joomla.javascript.js"></script>
  <script type="text/javascript" src="/media/system/js/mootools.js"></script>
  <script type="text/javascript" src="/components/com_virtuemart/js/mootools/mooPrompt.js"></script>
  <script type="text/javascript" src="/components/com_virtuemart/js/slimbox/js/slimbox.js"></script>

You may add it to your current template header:
Code: [Select]
templates\[your default template]\index.phpoften it is
Code: [Select]
templates\rhuk_milkyway\index.phpby default

Personally I didn't try it exactly, but tried something similar, and it had conflicted with other JS on other pages. So test it before placing to production website.

The workaround is to put a condition to your template to check which page is displayed and include the code only for the page you wanted.

Hi all,

I'm one that is still facing this problem.
I followed the instructions presented in this thread, but I didn't get it to work. It's definitely a template conflict.

These are the steps that I followed:

1) First I added the four lines in the head tag of index.php (I'm using "rhuk_milkyway" template).

Quote
  <script type="text/javascript" src="/includes/js/joomla.javascript.js"></script>
  <script type="text/javascript" src="/media/system/js/mootools.js"></script>
  <script type="text/javascript" src="/components/com_virtuemart/js/mootools/mooPrompt.js"></script>
  <script type="text/javascript" src="/components/com_virtuemart/js/slimbox/js/slimbox.js"></script>

When I clicked on the product image nothing happened, nothing at all.

2) Second I added just the two lines in the head of index.php, like many did:

Quote
<script type="text/javascript" src="/components/com_virtuemart/js/mootools/mooPrompt.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="/components/com_virtuemart/js/slimbox/js/slimbox.js"></script>

When I clicked on the product image, the image opened in the same tab (I'm using FireFox) without lightbox.

In both cases when I disable the "Open Product Images in a LightBox?" by setting to "No" and the image opened in a different window.

I will try the same thing with the other two templates that Joomla (beez,JA_Purity) comes with and see what happens.

Any ideas are welcome?

Thanks in advance!

Andreas

In clicking on a product image, lightbox starts, but stops then and a new page opens with the image; no lightbox effect. It's about: http://hairsensations.accountsupport.com/your_style/ ; I did put the scripts in the index.php from the template (it_verdana form icetheme.com); .js , mootools and other files are present, still no lightbox effect.....; Thanks for all advice!

Hey all,

I'm having a weird problem with my lightbox. When my products only have one image, when I click on that image I get a new tab (or window in IE) with a 404 error. The URL is http://mysite/IMAGETITLE where mysite is my local url and IMAGETITLE is the title of my image with no extension.

When I have multiple images uploaded, any subsequent images work perfectly, but the first one acts gives me the same 404 error/url. I'm thinking it has something to do with SEF URLs? I'm using router.php to handle that.

Thanks in advance for any help!

DJ

EDIT: I've tried turning SEF URLs on and off as well as turning "add suffix to urls" along with combinations of both to no avail. I've also tried using the default templates and I have the same exact problem.

EDIT (again) - my problem was fixed so simply. Apparently the URL field doesn't function the way I thought it did, removing that fixed my problem.

I tried all the solutions given here but dint work  :(

and in the product list page the images look stretched also. wonder if their is any way to fix that.

You still have a JavaScript issue. You are adding "rel="lightbox" into the initial image display. eg:
Code: [Select]
<a href="http://fixall.com.sg/onlineshop/components/com_virtuemart/shop_image/product/LENOVO_IdeaPad_Y_4eec0806b5240.jpg" title="LENOVO IdeaPad Y570" rel="lightbox[product112]">

Standard VirtueMart code for a product image with working slimbox is here:
Code: [Select]
<a title="A product" href="/joomla1523/index.php?page=shop.product_details&amp;category_id=7&amp;flypage=flypage.tpl&amp;product_id=17&amp;option=com_virtuemart&amp;Itemid=2">

arcimo89, your problems are you do not have a closing <head> tag in your template.

Also, you are calling css files way below the <head> tag.

THEN, mootools is not loaded, NOR are the other virtuemart scripts, which INCLUDES   lightbox.js

This should be in your template head
<jdoc:include type="head" />

THAT code calls all the css, and java files that a component uses.

You still have a JavaScript issue. You are adding "rel="lightbox" into the initial image display. eg:
Code: [Select]
<a href="http://fixall.com.sg/onlineshop/components/com_virtuemart/shop_image/product/LENOVO_IdeaPad_Y_4eec0806b5240.jpg" title="LENOVO IdeaPad Y570" rel="lightbox[product112]">

Standard VirtueMart code for a product image with working slimbox is here:
Code: [Select]
<a title="A product" href="/joomla1523/index.php?page=shop.product_details&amp;category_id=7&amp;flypage=flypage.tpl&amp;product_id=17&amp;option=com_virtuemart&amp;Itemid=2">

Can JavaScript issue arise when we don't change any code of it ?
Where should I change that code?
Thanks,
arcimo8

arcimo89, your problems are you do not have a closing <head> tag in your template.

Also, you are calling css files way below the <head> tag.

THEN, mootools is not loaded, NOR are the other virtuemart scripts, which INCLUDES   lightbox.js

This should be in your template head
<jdoc:include type="head" />

THAT code calls all the css, and java files that a component uses.

Is this correct ?

<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />
<title>FixALL Computers Pte Ltd</title>
<meta name="description" content="FixALL Computers IT Solutions & Multimedia Development" />
<meta name="keywords" content="Fixall, IT, Solutions, Multimedia, Development" />
<meta name="author" content="FixALL Computers Pte Ltd - Marico Wijaya" />
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="../css/style.css"/>
<jdoc:include type="head" />
</head>

Because I use joomla only for the onlineshop, not for all page for my website.
That's why I put css is not under joomla folder. Is it make change to the lightbox ?

I have tried to change that amount, still not working properly.
Is it because the pictures is too big?

Try with mootools upgrade turned off. That fixed the issue you describe for some other forum members.

Hey guys, I've been having this problem for a while and I've just got mine working. I am using gk_esport template. In template settings I disabled "lazy load images" and the lightbox has started working again.
