I've been trying to figure out if theres a way to offer free shipping in my paypal shopping cart (just the basic cart) via some kind of coupon code, i'm going to be running a promotional ad in a national magazine next month and would like to add this code to the ad if its a possibility. Any help would be greatly appreciate, thanks!!

Many have asked for this(also in pre 1.1), and with no response. If it is possible, it would have to be commisioned. If you are interested in paying a programmer, try the Commercial Jobs (http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?board=18.0) board and perhaps you can subsidize your venture by soliciting donations from other boarders.
Personally, I think that offering a percentage-off coupon combined with free shipping over a defined cart total would not be so bad, but I guess it depends on the product, the campaign, and most importantly, YOUR personal preferences.
