I know this was listed as fixed, but with VM 1.1 Stable I still get a blank screen when I set Administration to extended layout in MSIE 7. It flashes the control panel up for a second and then everything goes away. Unlike the previous occurrence of this, I haven't been able to fix it by deleting the cookie.
I've double checked that all VM files on my test system match the VM 1.1 Stable package. I've switched to Firefox for VM administration now, so it's not an issue for me, but a lot of people still use MSIE.
I use IE7 and works OK for me, maybe an IE addon is blocking something, no clue just brain storming.

Noticed on some servers still not working with sharing ssl and extend layout...
Back with more information about that...
but you can try to paste folowing code in your browser then try again to start a extend layout

that will help you to go back to simple layout!
