I think this would be a great move because when you reinstall vm you lose your tables in the database along with all the files (translation and category and product images). If you moved these 2 (cat and prod images) to the Joomla 'images' folder, we wouldn't lose the image files and upgrading/reinstalling would be a lot easier.
