There is a site where are 3 custom groups, every group has ~20 custom fields. These groups were added to the products when the site was built.
I created a new custom field and assigned it to an existing group.
When try to add it to a product, I can't find it in the customfields dropdown, only the group. But when I add a group, VM adds all of the group member fields again, so I need to remove the 19 duplicated rows.
Is there better way for that?

don't add the new field to any group ... then u can add just that field to a product

You have to understand that groups are just a kind of template in order to add several fields at once, but that stops there, it is not a real group management.
This is why, when you assign the same group a second time to your product, all the fields are added again, it is not an update of the list of fields belonging to the group that is carried out.
