I have the Virtuemart Products module set up to show additional products from the same category. It works fine on the category pages, but on the product detail page it pulls products from all categories.
We've used this in the past and it worked fine, but only recently discovered the problem with the product detail pages. Unfortunately we don't know when the problem cropped up, so not sure how long ago it may have become "broken". This has been tested on 2 different sites, with a 3rd party template and default Protostar template, same result.

The module settings are:
Use category filter = Yes
Category = Top Level Category

You have chosen Top level category. I can not see this as anything else as Top Level category. I does not say current category. But I may be mistaken.
