Title: VirtueUpload 1.0.0 - upload component for VM
Post by: eaxs on January 10, 2006, 22:00:14 pm
Lots of things changed....
started as a small hack, it is now an independant component, which works hand in hand with VirtueMart!
VirtueUpload will give you and your customers the possiblity to upload certain files, corresponding to an order.
From the joomla-backend, you can manage, download and view the files very easily.

VirtueUpload 1.0.0 ( Release date: 01.03.2006 )

Sorry that it took a bit longer than expected...
So here´s the 1.0.0 Stable Release.

Some Features:

Installation and usage:

Install it just like every other component. Then make sure the config file is writable.
File-location: administrator/components/com_virtueupload/admin.virtueupload.cfg.php

Create a new component-link in your prefered joomla menu and/or use the little hack as described in the VirtueUpload Config. That's it!

Feel free to report any error or trouble with VirtueUpload.

Woderfull! Nice! Excellent! Thank You!

Works perfekt... unfortunately i am not able to program an extention. But the extention would very helpful.
While uploading the customer might think there is nothing happening anymore. can anybody programm a layer that pops up while a file is downloading with the message Upload in progress please wait ( and blinking dots.gif). Would be great!

And a second nice modification would be one which makes it possible to the customer to upload a secend filde as well.

last but not least, after the upload progress we need a admin notification so that the admin gets to know that there is a file uploaded for an specific order number...

in the future it would be nice if a fileupload was done, an automatically generated link would be addes to the orderlist in the backend.

and now i lean back and enjay my new features... sponsored by   eaxs

*applauds* Great work! :) I'll certainly be tracking this modification! Would it be possible to actually consider making a full addon/module for VM that can be plugged-in as mentioned by ronwaste?  Then the admin has the option of allowing the user to upload/not upload files through the admin backend.

I think the upload size and file type is limited by the settings in Joomla or is there a restriction setting somewhere? :)

Thanks!

I think this is what I need, but I am unsure how to implement it.  Where exactly is line 570?  In my cpanel editor, the lines are unnumbered, and copying the source code into dreamweaver shows inserting at 570 puts the hack inside function delete_record( $record_id, &$d ).  Is this correct?  I am just learning php, so I know my 'noobness' is probably annoying.  Any help I would greatly appreciate.  I want to be able to allow users to not only upload pictures to customize their purchase, but also text.  Thanks to all.  The site I am working on is www.declarationsinstone.com

You can try this:

Insert as Upload-root : https://mydomain.com/my/upload/path

I have no SSL, so i cant test it on my own  :(

This looks excellent, where can I get the files from?

Also, how easy is it to change the file name, as we have users that make multiple orders which could cause head aches.

Hi Eaxs,

Added all the code as described in your post. Seems great, but when I want to save the Admin settings I just get a white screen and no settings are changed  :-\

Isn't it necessary to write the settings in virtuemart.cfg.php? Tried to add them but than I still cannot see the upload function when ordering.
Darn, it seems like a very good hack.....

Okay, tested it again from scratch. Copy & Paste.... Tried like hell. The upload settings are now being set from the administration control panel with VirtueMart. Thanx for that procedure, it's great.

Tried testing like a user who needs to order. Where can I find the upload field? Is it my haircolour or do I have to set more things in the control panel?

Greetz, Websnooky.

- The upload field is found in the customers account panel - But only after the customer has made an    order!

Title: Re: Customer can upload files
Post by: UWiX on January 31, 2006, 20:44:13 pm
Eh... about the white field when saving the new upload settings... I tried it again from scratch and than it worked great. Guess it's just a case like R.T.F.M. Think I've did something wrong with the copy and paste into the existing sources. Sorry - big dummy mistake ;D

Ah, there is the upload button, thanx!
 Hmmm, I rather want it into the screen where you can put some extra text to the order. Otherwise I'm affraid the customer forgets uploading the file. And that's what I need for my client. I'll search in which place I must put the hacked PHP than (in what file, I mean). Shouldn't be that difficult to figure out.
Ofcourse, any suggestions are welcome ::)

Thanx for your help and this great hack/tweak!

This is very difficult to realise. Some hints how to get this working:

- Create a new checkbox "allow upload" on the backend-page where you can add/modify your products
  this checkbox would be similar to the "published" button.
- Then this value (true or false) has to be stored in the database table "vm_products" - create a new row like  "upload_status" or something like that...

Next and last step would be to alter the shop.products_details.php found in "administrator/components/virtuemart/html"
-----------------------------------
Otherwise you can give your customers a small hint where they can upload a file:

- Write a message in your product flypage like: "You can upload your files in the account maintenance, after ordering this product".
-----------------------------------
Last possibility:
- Maybe next version of Virtuemart provides this feature?
- Or wait for the next release of my hack?  ;D

Well, I'm not thinkin' on such a difficult level.... The browse field and upload button work on the final order screen (can't name the proper description just now) but all I have to do is move them to the last confirm order page.

It doesn't have to be attached to every different product. So I guess it shouldn't be too hard to do... (atleast, that's what I hope for  ::) ) ...

Thanx for your advice, I'll be sure to use them.

Hey eaxs! Great add-on idea!

I have only one small issue though: It does not work for me. :D

Maybe I did not install correctly?

Here is my story...

I have installed BETA version according to the tutorial on page 1. I get the admin config tab. It saves settings to the config file ok.

I get the upload form on an order in Account Maintenence...(but ALL the orders have the upload form if a user has multiple orders placed...I know you're still working on a method to have the product specific upload feature.)

When I test the upload, with a file that conforms to my settings, it always gives the error:
You must provide a file!

looking at the code, the IF statement:
Code: [Select]
if($data_tmp_name) {
....code chunk removed...
}
else { // Warning:the user must provide a file, reset the page
            echo "<script>window.history.go(-1);alert(\"You must provide a file!\");</script>";
}

i commented out to test and it creates folders but does not store file

any suggestions?

Hmmm... i know what you mean but cant find a code problem  :(
maybe you could test the hack on your local machine with the same upload settings
and see if it works... let me know  ::)

- I´m still working on a stable release. maybe it comes out this weekend, but not sure.

Title: Re: Customer can upload files
Post by: UWiX on February 11, 2006, 09:49:44 am
Hey Deneb,

Have the same problem when the code is added. I noticed this error appears when you use the browse button on the first order only! The second order uploads the file with no problem. The fourth or the fifth gives the same error again.

And I only tested it locally - so you don't have to do that anymore. I'll see if I can figure out something one of these days. Than I'll post it here! Or.... eaxs releases a stable version and the problem could be solved than ;)

Post by: eaxs on February 13, 2006, 01:46:46 am
VirtueUpload 1.0.0 RC1

Lots of things changed....
started as a small hack, it is now an independant component, which works hand in hand with VirtueMart!

Some Features:

- Language support: english, german ( type english.php or german.php in the config)
- Uploads are logged into a database table
- Choose who can upload (Everyone, or a specific shopper group)
- Users can leave a comment on the uploaded file
- Show current upload-status to the user
- Inform admin when a new file is uploaded
- Let shopper upload during the checkout-process! ( for Details check the VirtueUpload-configuration )

Installation and usage:

Install it just like every other component. Then make sure the config file is writable.
File-location: administrator/components/com_virtueupload/admin.virtueupload.cfg.php

Create a new component-link in your prefered joomla menu and/or use the little hack as described in the VirtueUpload Config. That's it!

But remember: This component is not a stable release, so there might be some bugs and other crappy things.
Feel free to report any error or trouble with VirtueUpload.

Thanks!

Oh...before I forget, here´s the link  ;D

Allow me to be the first to chime in on this latest component...

 :o eaxs, you are huge...larger than life! This component is great! I have a great use for this component.  :D

MY COMMENTS:
-------------------------
other than some layout and usability issues, the component seems to work. It installs nice and easy via the Joomla  component installer. It is self contained, so I can remove at will without trouble or affecting VM files.

The only real issue: where to put the code for the VirtueUpload popup-form link? :-\
I put in the flypage template as suggested, and this works great.
Also, link is always in the product flypage; it may or may not work depending on the access level admin specifies (could add logic to detect user level or logged status to activate the link.) Also, customer may not find it and use it or it may be confusing to them.

Now, I know you can set access level...but maybe this is not the best place to put the code. I liked it better on the Order list in the Account Maintenance page...or maybe in the payment extra info code (but this may have issues with PayPal.) But there are pros/cons for everything right? I'm sure you thought of this...that is why you provide code snip and tell us to put it where ever we want? It's difficult to have a stand-alone component that works so closely with another component.

I liked the way you had it before in the BETA version where the uploaded file was placed in a subfolder of the download root named for the order_id. But this is not necessary.

SMALL BUG:
-----------------
The comment link in the list is popping two (2) windows; one with the comment, then one with the admin list. :(

Great job though! I like it.  :-*

I'll wait for others to try it out and comment on location for the link...

I know, main goal of this version was to get the main functions working. So I havent spend too much time on the layout.

Quote
I liked it better on the Order list in the Account Maintenance page

Insert a new "tmp_cell" in ps_order between line 560-570<- this is where the orders are listet. :
Code: [Select]
$tmp_cell .= "<a href=\"#\" onclick=\"window.open('index2.php?option=com_virtueupload&task=show_form&pop=1','win2','status=no,toolbar=no,scrollbars=yes,titlebar=no,menubar=no,resizable=yes,width=300,height=300,directories=no,location=no');\">Upload a file</a>";
Quote
I'm sure you thought of this...that is why you provide code snip and tell us to put it where ever we want?
The code snippet creates a js popup to the component... you may modify and insert the code where ever you want. You can also assign the popup to an existing button. It would look like this:
Code: [Select]
<input onclick="window.open('index2.php?option=com_virtueupload&task=show_form&pop=1','win2',
'status=no,toolbar=no,scrollbars=yes,titlebar=no,menubar=no,resizable=yes,width=300,height=300,directories=no,location=no');">

I´ll keep the work up on this :)

This is a nice one! Great piece of programming EAXS! I like it. It works just fine.

I want to implement it onto an order page as an extra "field". So the uploaded file is the order itself. Think it's a lot of programming? Should I even bother to try it? Or is a few weeks work?

If you want the upload form directly in your flypage just like an extrafield, you must hack very deep into the shop, i guess.
But there must be another way for this. I´ll try to implent this feature in the stable release...
shouldn´t be impossible  ;)

By the way, i´m looking for some help in translating the language files (exept german and english).

An idea for the stable release?

* The administrator or special user can view the uploaded files via the Front End.
* Automaticly generating an unique order number instead of letting the user select an existing one.

If ya need help -  I could take a shot ;)

I´m almost 24/7  O_o nline  :D

I have 2 ideas in mind how to do this:

1. check the current url-string. When the "flypage" is found, let VirtueUpload replace a custom tag like {upload} in the flypage

2. I create a class which extends the virtuemart class "ps_product", or simply enter a small code snippet in shop.product_details.php, which includes VirtueUpload.

We´ll see which of these ideas work  :)

And Thanks for the translation!
Maybe I could use your help again when stable version is released  ;)

Another suggestion for the final release:

* settings in the admin-panel (back-end), how many files a user can upload (more than one, that is)
* the more files that can be uploaded, the more upload browse buttons there are...

I can't wait to test the final release with all the nice new options in it! Keep up the good work!

Hey, where's the dutch translation?  ??? Well, dutch language-file is attached to this message.

Just place in it in the language folder from virtueupload.

Eh... seems that there are a few variables changed in the language file from the stable version :-\
Here's the correct DUTCH version! With the new option included too!

Hi Julian,
The templates are in:
my_site/components/com_virtueupload/templates/

If you want to change a text, you should take a look at the language-file in:
my_site/administrator/components/com_virtueupload/language/

Just open your active language file and change the desired text.

This is a great component.  Cheers to Tobias and to everyone else who was involved in its development.

I wonder if there's any way to have the upload form displayed as part of the "Thank you for your order" page?  I've tried pasting the hacks from the component into the checkout.thankyou.php file with little success so far.  I'm a relative novice in PHP so I may be missing something obvious relating to the syntax or position of the hacks.  Any pointers would be greatly appreciated!

PS I notice that in the e-mail notifications, the upload directory is given as CFG_VMUPL_UPLOADROOT rather than the filepath.  I presume that it's ok to password-protect this directory using .htaccess, by the way?
Title: Re: VirtueUpload 1.0.0 - upload component for VM
Post by: eaxs on March 28, 2006, 01:20:34 am
Hiho!
Thanks for your compliment  :)
Ok course there´s a way to display the form in "checkout.thankyou.php"

Just open this file and insert the snippet under :
Quote
/** END printing out HTML Form code (Payment Extra Info) **/
Snippet:
Code: [Select]
if (file_exists ($mosConfig_absolute_path. "/components/com_virtueupload/virtueupload.php")) {
  require_once ($mosConfig_absolute_path. "/components/com_virtueupload/virtueupload.php");
  $vu = new html_virtueupload; echo $vu->show_form();
}

Now, we included virtueupload..but it will show give you errors etc. So we have to change more things.

Open
Quote
components/com_virtueupload/virtueupload.php
and search for the function "getPath()". There, you should add this:

Code: [Select]
if ( $page == 'checkout.thankyou' ) {
    $curr_path = "index.php";
  }

Now we told virtueupload where to redirect. The last step is it, to tell virtueupload, which layout it shoud use.

Search in the same file for the function "getTemplate". Then add:

Code: [Select]
if ($page == 'checkout.thankyou') {
    $template = "account.vu";
  }

I know, it´s not the best way to handle it..but at least it works...

About that "CFG_VMUPL_UPLOADROOT":
Thats just a simple constant. The value is, as you said, the file-path.  :)

Greets, Tobias

Hey Tobias - wow, fast response!  I just tried out your instructions, and I think I followed them correctly, but it didn't seem to work.  I know it's difficult without looking at my installation, but do you have any suggestions as to what I might look at to get it working?  So far I have the component working well in a stand-alone manner, but that's it.  I'm getting nothing diffent on the thank you page, not even errors.

By the way, what I meant about that variable in the e-mail notifications is that it looks as though you intended the program to substitute the real filepath for the variable name (as you can't click on the link to get to the file as things stand now).
Title: Re: VirtueUpload 1.0.0 - upload component for VM
Post by: eaxs on March 28, 2006, 09:36:51 am
hmm so the path in the email looks like this:
mysite.com/CFG_VMUPL_UPLOADROOT/x/y/file.name?

To fix it, you can manually insert the real path in "virtueupload.php" in the function "log_upload()"
I´ve noticed a few bugs in the current version...I´ll fix them when I have the time  :)

Maybe you can place the snippet for the thankyou-page somewhere else...it might depend on your VirtueMart Version. - I tested it with 1.0.4 and it worked well.
Also make sure it´s
Quote
echo $vu->show_form();
and not
Quote
$vu->show_form();

Please let me know if it finally worked  :)

Title: Re: VirtueUpload 1.0.0 - upload component for VM
Post by: white_rajah on March 28, 2006, 15:21:04 pm
Well, I did as you suggested, and tried putting the code elsewhere on the Thankyou page.  It works for me if put first on the page, which is a good solution for the time being.  I'm also using Virtuemart 1.0.4.  Many thanks!

And yes, that's how the URL is displaying in my e-mails.  No big deal.

Here's another question for you: supposing I want to turn off the .jpg image that displays with VirtueUpload (to avoid problems with mixing secure and insecure data), what's the best way to do this?

Title: Re: VirtueUpload 1.0.0 - upload component for VM
Post by: eaxs on March 28, 2006, 18:47:54 pm
Hi again!
Maybe the problem is that the path to the image is "http" and not "https" ?

You can change the file-path in
Quote
components/com_virtueupload/virtueupload.html.php
Search in the first function "show_form ()" for
Quote
$image       = "<img src=\"".$mosConfig_live_site."/components/...
change the path to:
Quote
$image       = "<img src=\"https://mysite.com/components/...
But I´m not sure that this helps...at least you can check it out. If it doesnt work, simply reduce the line to:
Quote
$image       = ""
- The image will not be loaded then.

greets, Tobias

Hi Tobias - thanks, once I turned off the image the error message disappeared.

Thanks also for the fix on the mail link.  By the way, I noticed while I was testing this that the order number isn't being passed through (appears as 0).

Keep up the great work - this is a very useful component!

The order-id will only be set when uploading through the customer-account. (A dropdow-list with the orders appears)
Althought the order id remains 0, you can turn on "auto-retrieve" in the configuration. So you know the user at least.

Hi everybody...
I'm currently busy to add a webshop to my firm's site, and after spending many painful hours hacking oscommerce I finally found VirtueMart.. and immediately put osc into my "dead projects" folder!

Now I'm working on implementation of   VirtueUpload and wonder if it was possible to let VU react on Product attributes in future versions?

What I think of is the following situation:
We want to sell print/plot articles to our customers, and while doing this in our physical shop is REALLY easy  ;)
(just show a template, or ask for brought files) .
Now it's easy to add an attribute "design" to an article, with a select box to let customers if it should be based on a template or their own design.

Wouldn't it be a good option to let VU show an upload form in product details depending on such an attribute, and then just fill a text attribute with the path to uploaded file?
This would make it easier to control orders that MUST have an upload attached, also I wouldn't have to have the same basic product in several Categories(the solution I just tried to seperate uploaded business cards from 'normal' ones).

I will try out myself to find out how complicated this may be, but as I'm relatively new to Joomla I would love to get some feedback on this idea, maybe someone of you has tried something like that already and can give me tips?

This is awsome and just what I needed! Thanks,

I am now wondering how to keep shoppers that purchase products not requiring file uploads from uploading files. I have created a new shopper group and set VU to only allow uploads from that group. But how in the... do I assign shoppers to groups other than the -default- ? I know how to do it manually when editing each user.

If I could just assign a product or category to a specific group then I'd be very happy but I don't see a way to do it. I know I could set up another payment method but that would be confusing and shoppers could click the wrong one.

Now that I'm thinking more about this, it would be great to place the upload form on the product page (already possible I know) but instead of uploading right then, it just sends file source path in a hidden field along with the order to the shopping cart. Then, after payment has been confirmed the "Thank You" page displays a simple "Send Image" button with progress bar (could just be the same status bar since I know it's hard to make a real progress bar in with PHP). That "Send Image" button would also be availible in the shopper's Account Maintenance page in case they skip it on the "Thank You" page.

This would acctualy make more sense to the shopper. They attach the photo and enter custom text on the product page but aren't uploading any file until payment is recieved. This way the store owner isn't recieving bogus uploads without orders. And multiple products (each with files attached) would upload at the same time asociated with the product SKU and payment ID without the shopper having to select it by hand.

I figured out how to fix the e-mail file link. Replace CFG_VMUPL_UPLOADROOT with VU_CFG_UPLOADROOT on line 185 of "virtueupload.php" in "components/com_virtueupload/"

It looks like there is no CFG_VMUPL_UPLOADROOT and that's why the e-mail was printing it.

Wondering if there is a fix for order ID showing in the email as 0? It shows the ID number in the admin area. I'd like to fix the emails but for now will just remove that print out for now since it does nothing.

Hi kmaster!

I haven't seen a site using my component, but I think I can explain you how it works.

To get the order id, you have 2 possibilities:

1. The user must be logged in and upload the file from his virtuemart account-panel.
    (A dropdownlist with with his orders appears)

2. The user must be logged in and upload from Virtueupload
    (create a link in your menu like: index.php?option=com_virtueupload)

- You get a warning (the user had no virtuemart session), if he did not upload from a virtuemart-page. thats all.

The best thing would be, to write a hint for your customers, that they can upload their files from their account-panel, after they've made the purchase.

Good luck,
Tobias

I also have problems installing the VirtueUpload at my webspace, because my provider use the SQL 5 database. Everything works fine on other sites I build that use a SQL earlier then 5. Is there a chance to make it work or when will be a fix be availible (1.0.1) that includes an installation-procedure for SQL 5.

In response to post #55 and #84 regarding mySQL 5...  change the sql in your XML:

Code: [Select]
`cdate` int(11) NOT NULL default '',to
Code: [Select]
`cdate` int(11) NOT NULL default '0',
and you are in business!

I made some hacks to VirtueUpload / VirtuaMart, in order to make the upload possibile from VM Admin page, and the file uploaded accessibile to customer directly in order detail page. If you are interested, I can send you.

Yes interested :)

currently I do have a seperate php script where acustomer uploads  a file which is at the same time the location where the processed file is stored . Problem there is  that I have to mail the client for payment and only then I can upload the processed file and again have to notify the client

As VM give the opportunity to order ( and upload - still havent figured out the uploadlink location for that) and make a payment when ordering or even make the payment in due time ( as there is a payment link - paypal- on the order) I was thnking it miht be a way to think about . at least the payment and order would have been simplefied .
Ideally if I cna then add the download link to their order or so ( or another way to give a secure download link ( and confirmation) that would help. (brainstorming here.. if one could create a SKU per order ( is out of stock) than one could mail the customer that its ready to buy/download in the normal way ?)

anyway for the upload component to support something like create a new field for text input. My logic here would be like this.

user buying the product, pay manually, then after he/she pay , he/she can login to their account and can upload the resit for the particular order, but not all user here like this, some of them will just prefer to enter their resit number and bank name.

Anyway to achieve this, thanks?  ;D

Hello,
   I'm wew to VIRTUALMART BUT,
  I'm looking for something like tis:
a) customers can register on the site (and the program create customers private folder)
b) after registration customers can fill an order form and upload (at the end of the order so that they can do something else and let the pc upload the files) one or more file sized from 1Mb to 300/400Mb on the customer private folder.
c) the file is processed by the team and after the team put a preview to the server to let the customer accept the result. (the server should mail the file to the customer or to mail him a link to download the file)
d) customer can log in and pay with paypal (or a bank wire transfer)
e) after that the system send a mail to the customer with the link to download the files and send him a PDF with invoice.

Thats all.

Thanks in advance.

if (file_exists ($mosConfig_absolute_path. "/components/com_virtueupload/virtueupload.php")) { require_once ($mosConfig_absolute_path. "/components/com_virtueupload/virtueupload.php");  $vu = new html_virtueupload; $template = str_replace( "{vu_form}", $vu->show_form(), $template );}
and Account maintenance
Code: [Select]
<?php if (file_exists($mosConfig_absolute_path.'/components/com_virtueupload/virtueupload.php')) { require_once ($mosConfig_absolute_path.'/components/com_virtueupload/virtueupload.php'); } ?>
not show the drop down orders, i have added in the template {vu_orders} file but the file is not upload.

It is possible to limit the number of file for order?
Thanks

Hi everybody,

I am the author of virtueupload and I'm about to rewrite it from scratch!
The last official release was more than one year ago...

And must admit that I've abandoned the component after a sometime. There was just too much other stuff to do, and I had no time to support you guys.

But I see that Pisu made some excellent mods and kept it running. Thank you very much!
As I already said, I wrote this component as an emergency-solution 1 year ago and it really could use a little facelift.

I've also joined the virtuemart-team to help out wherever I can  :)
So stay tuned...virtueupload will continue!

-Tobias

@soeren: could you tweak the database so I am the creator of this topic again?
Topic-ID is 14466 and user-id is 17325...that would be great. Thanks!

Hi,

the upload component is great.

I am stuck with two open points and I di not see on this thread:

1) Is it possible first to do an upload and then choose the product ?

2) How can I restrict upload only to some products ?

Best regards and many thanks Niels

This component is to upload files attached to orders, not to products. So there are no replies to your questions, and if you are not able to develop in PHP, this component can't help you.

Thats interesting. And the end of order is also okay.

Because in the manual I rea the you integrate the upload on the product_description page

Is there a possible way to get an upload over another image like silk screening products. Is there such a module for this? So when a customer places an order there image would be included with the order and show the client an example of what it would look like with thte photo and have a photo editing option would be a nice feature to have added to it as well.... And also have an option to place text instead of a photo.  Along with color options and stuff... Hope I didn't confuse anyone here.. check out the examples below one of the sites you may have to sign up to veiw the upload feature and you will understand what I am looking for...
Examples:
http://www101.iprint.com
http://www.photoworks.com/

Like puttng image over a mug etc....

Hi,

 I have a question:

 I'm trying to find if it is possible to attach uploads to products? What I need to do is create a product catalog that the admin can upload a pdf file to with a link on the product info to the uploaded file, making it available for download by a standard user.

 Is this possible?

 Thanks

Oli

Hi Oli,

look at http://www.jmds.eu/downloads-factsheets/virtuemart-factsheets/adding-additional-details-files-to-products./download.html

I guess you can combine it with virtueupload. Apply the hack and change the upload path. The name of the file must be the same.

Thanks for that.

 I've taken it a step further and am trying to configure it so that if you select "make product downloadable" and upload a file, that file is then displayed along with the product.

 The problem I am having is I need to add the SKU onto the end of the filename to make it unique. Anyone know how I can get this? The file I am modifying is:

ps_product_files.php line 155 and 158.

 Can anyone help?

Thanks

Hi, great component and hacks.
(Sorry, my english isn´t very good but I´ll try explain my question)

I have installed virtueupload  (Pisu hacks) over Joomla! 1.0.12 and VirtueMart 1.0.9.

In my proyect the best place for the upload form is the page "checkout.thankyou.php". Just when the customer has paid.  I think the order details page is not the best place for the form because is possible the customer don´t open that page and that page have too much dates.

I did the changes explained about it in this thread (page 5) and It work, but when a file is uploaded the new page which is opened is diferent,it only show the form,  then you can´t see the order details link.

By other hand, I have a serius problem with the 2M limit in the file size to upload. I know it is a problem with my web server , then I think I can´t change it (the web server is a shared hosting ). Is there any solution?

I think over several possibilities:
- The upload are made by ftp, then don´t exist  limit with the file size and I can host may web in a server and get the files there or directly into my PC (so it don´t increase the web traffic and the hosting is cheaper)

- To use a java applet to upload the files.

But I don´t know integrate it in virtueupload component.

One bug:
- When a file is biggest than the limit the error is 'No file selected!'   instead of 'The filesize is not within the limit!'

Other thing

- If I do the spanish translation,in the error messages in the form aren´t showed the spanish characters: ñ, á, é, ...
Thanks.

Hi there, so I tried everything, but the damn uploader wont upload the files in the flypage...and it would be easier if it would be in the order page...I'm using joomla 1.0.11 and vm 1.0.9. I did the two change to the files that I was told to, but no way to upload..if I use it by it self everything works fine...but in the flypage it won't work...

What do you mean? Of course you must have VirtueUpload component installed.
However, I report here the lines to add to original files.

File account.order_details.php  (add near the end of file, before line } /* End of security check */):
Code: [Select]
?>
<hr/>
<?php

$query "SELECT * FROM #__virtueuploads WHERE order_id=" $order_id;
  $database->setQuery($query);
  $uploads $database->loadObjectList();

  $downlink $mosConfig_live_site "/index2.php?option=com_virtueupload&task=download&id=" $upload->id;
  echo '<a href="' $downlink '">' $upload->file_name '</a>';
  }
  echo '<br/>';
  }
?>

<input type="button" class="button" value="Carica un File" onclick="window.open('index2.php?option=com_virtueupload&task=show_form&pop=1&order_id=<?php echo $order_id?>','win2','status=no,toolbar=no,scrollbars=no,titlebar=no,menubar=no,resizable=yes,width=450,height=260,directories=no,location=no');" />
<?php

File order.order_print.php (add near the end of file, before </table>):
Code: [Select]
<tr>
  <td colspan="2">
  <?php
  $query "SELECT * FROM #__virtueuploads WHERE order_id=" $order_id;
  $database->setQuery($query);

virtueupload1_0_0_hackbypisu.zip
VM_Orders_With_Upload_List_1.0.8.zip

So thanks for all the great info on this thread alone.

My is Q simple, very simple:

In Components>VirtueUpload>Settings>Hacks at the Flypage hack the instruction at the end of it reads

"Then open your flypage and add {vu_form} somewhere."

What's and where's my flypage?

I know it's an easy one... thanks.

Hi, which version of Upload are you trying to install? I had the same trouble, but looking through this thread I found these

virtueupload1_0_0_hackbypisu.zip
VM_Orders_With_Upload_List_1.0.8.zip

SEE: http://virtuemart.net/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=71&topic=14466.msg70211#msg70211

If not, post the errors you've got.

sorry in advance for my noobness

I have installed the latest versions:

virtueupload1_0_0_hackbypisu.zip
VM_Orders_With_Upload_List_1.0.8.zip

I want to display the upload form immediately following the existing customer login/new customer registration submit page during checkout.
I have read the entire thread and it seems that i could use the code snippets on pg.5 of this thread (reply# 64)
Which ceckout_xxxxxxxxx.php  file should i add this to and where in the file should the snipet be placed?
Also, would the alterations to the virtueupload.php file be the same as mentioned?

Thanks for all the great work on this thread!!!

I'll tell you, there should be more configuration options available for the com. It makes no sense for the customer to choose which order the upload should be assigned to. You should be able to upload your image, pick whatever attibutes, and hit "add to cart" and the image would automatically be assigned to that particular order. Waiting for a user to checkout and then ask to upload a file is completely backwards in my opinion. Can anyone help with these issues as I think it would greatly benifit the use of the module. I'll pay for it!

I realize that this is an old post but I would like to show off my ignorance as a joomla nooby by asking a few questions about this uploader and uploading in general.

We have two sites we are building where we want to have a youtube like capability. We would like to have people upload themselves and we end up with the thumbnail and some text describing the video and a link to play the video. We have the joomla allplayer on one site and another player on the other site called zoom media gallery, which is supposed to organize media and place thumbnails as links to play the media whether it be a pic or a video or even audio I think. I must admit I haven't spent a long time testing either of them but I do like the allplayer's possibilities, but I can't find out if it can be organized to have people upload so that you have a page of thumnails and text from which you select what you want to play. I know it can be connected easily to all the video sites like youtube so that you can have people watch movies on your site coming from youtube. I would like people to be able to upload these links also.

Does anyone have any ideas on this subject?

Very good mod, thanks for the work!
What I did as a work around is make a link off the menu that only registered users see, it pops up in its own window so users see it before they make there order.

In Joomla!'s Admin interface select Menu, Usermenu
Click NEW
Under Links
Click on Link - URL
Give your link a Name
Paste in this link...
index2.php?option=com_virtueupload&task=show_form&pop=1&order_id=
Select your option for On Click, Open in:

I have read that some of you guys have had issues with upgrading to vm1.0.10 never mind 1.0.12, has any body done this, and did it cause any huge issues.

Or even better, has anybody managed to upgrade the component to work on VM 1.0.12

Many thanks from a very worried about upgrading and ballsing every thing up Ian

Yer the site im taking over is only half or less finished, as the other designer went bankrupt and we have been left with a load of scattered projects.

So if i uninstalled Virtueupload, and reinstalled it it with your updated version it should work fine?

Great work by the way, is it in the Joomla Extensions directory, as i couldnt see it anywhere?

Still a few questions:
-> is it possible to show the customer a preview of the file he wants to upload; f.e. open a _blank pop-up?
-> is it possible to add the image(s) to the basket and/or confirmation e-mail?

I think the problem is SEO

I changed line 108 in viruteupload.html.php to this

Code: [Select]
$header .= "<form id='VirtueUpload' name='VirtueUpload' action='/component/option,com_virtueupload/Itemid,46' method='post' enctype='multipart/form-data'>";
and I added a line in virtueupload.php at about line 152

Code: [Select]
$curr_page2 = "http://www.bladiebla.com/previous_page.html";
and in the same file at line 189:

Code: [Select]
mosRedirect($curr_page2);
to redirect to the previous page.

and now it works fine now

Hi I am using Virtuemart 1.0.13a and I installed the VirtueUpload.  I understand this is for 1.0.12 but it seems to work fairly well with 1.0.13a.

However the first time I click on settings in the virtueupload admin area I am able to make the changes.  Then after that anytime I click on settings, banlist or delete I am logged out to the admin panel.  Everything else seems to work and I can even see the data on the file uploaded via the virtueupload admin area.

If anybody knows how to help me here with this I would really appreciate it.

Hi all,

I have installed this fantastic component as it was just what I needed, the install went very well and it was simple to change to english.

However, the attach file button is still Italian and I just can't find the button or code to change it.  It's the same in front and backends.  In addition to this, when multipul files are uploaded, another Italian word appears (I should have written it down) just above the attached file list.  I can't find this one either.

I have copied in the view source script...  Can anyone point me in the right direction.

<input type="button" class="button" value="Carica un File" onclick="window.open('../index2.php?option=com_virtueupload&task=show_form&pop=1&order_id=12','win2','status=no,toolbar=no,scrollbars=no,titlebar=no,menubar=no,resizable=yes,width=450,height=260,directories=no,location=no');" />
        </td>
      </tr>

Many thanks.....  Mal

Does anyone know of a way to upload files prior to the order being placed, once at checkout stage.

 My client wants customers to be able to upload photographs that are printed onto canvas, is this something that could be achievable with this component.

Your work is much appreciated. It was a need.

I have only 2 products. I need to add upload option in shop browse page too. How can I accomplish this?

Thanks.

Those who requires similar needs like me can do this trick. I removed(commented) Add To Cart option from browse page. This way customer will have to go to details page to add to cart and we have upload option in details page.

Hi folks!!

This is exactly what I've been looking for.  Does anyone know if this will work with vm 1.1?

I'm currently building a brand new site on j1.5 and vm 1.1 and it will require this functionality.

Please let me know if it's possible to run this in the new version or what the dev plans for updates.

Thanks,!!

VM rocks!

Worked together with EAXS on this add-in - it does work pretty good (thanx EAXS).

Recently I started developing a VirtueMart shop which needs an upload when placing an order (put "product" in basket); so had trouble figuring out how to do this using the VirtueUpload component. But it is getting allong quite good, I must say.

When I finish the final upload implementation I'll try to put the changed sources files on this forum or in a full component package.
I'm working on an upload option (for every seperate order/product) in the basket-overview page (basket.php) so in a later stage (when the order is confirmed) the upload gets attached to the created order-id. It is possible - but with a lot of trail and error  :P

I'll try to keep everyone informed...

Where did you upload the file, from the front-end or the back-end. If you upload from the front-end you can only get an order-id if the order is already placed/confirmed.
If you upload from the back-end, you can connect it to an order-id (if I recall correctly).

What do you mean when you say the upload file isn't shown? Want a preview or doesn't it appear in the backend admin list whatsoever?

I am working on a way to upload a file whhile in pre-ordering stage from within the front-end. I hope to post the hack for this soon. So the order-id problem can be solved.

Yeah that treu what you said. But in the VM backend there can you see witch user wiche file has uploaded, but dat dus not work. The files are uploaded but the description of them are not placed in the backend.

Do you have an example of it online? The description should work - even with version 1.0.0 of VirtueUpload.

Maybe some screenshots? In the uploadlist the description isn't displayed, only when selecting one of the uploaded files (but I think you've already noticed that ;D ).
Or could you post the code of the template file you are using to upload? Should be a file something like pop.vu.php or checkout.vu.php. Just to check if the input is generated allright.

Oh...eh... my mistake - you cannot upload from the backend - not without the hack, that is. Sorry.

Hi Hans,

I'm working on that as we speak. Need it for a project I'm running. It uses a lot of hacks but I hope to write an easy PHP class so it shouldn't be hard to implement in existing sites.
I'll post here or on a new thread when I've finished the final product.

Hi Websnooky, thanks for the reply.

When you look at the URL i gave, you'll see it works right now.

The config of VU gave me the solution (i didn't read it before):

Quote
This code will show the upload form directly in your flypage/product details.
Instructions: Insert the code at the end of shop.product_details(administrator/components/com_virtuemart/html)
BETWEEN /** NOW LET'S BEGIN AND FILL THE TEMPLATE **/
AND /* Finish and Print out the Page */
Then open your flypage and add {vu_form} somewhere.

Code:
Code: [Select]
if (file_exists ($mosConfig_absolute_path. "/components/com_virtueupload/virtueupload.php")) { require_once ($mosConfig_absolute_path. "/components/com_virtueupload/virtueupload.php");  $vu = new html_virtueupload; $template = str_replace( "{vu_form}", $vu->show_form(), $template );}

  </td>
</tr>
Many thanks.....  Mal

Mal - I too have done the install and am very happy to provide the ability for customers, and ADMIN to upload files to an order. I also see the "Carica Un File" on my button - this translated in Italian means:

In English:
it loads rows

I have found the source code here:  /components/com_virtueupload/html/ and

/administrator/components/com_virtueupload/html

account.order_details.php
order.order_print.php

These 2 files reference the Italian words - and I changed mine to read UPLOAD FILES  as seen here...(order_print)

<input type="button" class="button" value="UPLOAD FILES" onclick="window.open('../index2.php?option=com_virtueupload&task=show_form&pop=1&order_id=<?php echo $order_id?>','win2','status=no,toolbar=no,scrollbars=no,titlebar=no,menubar=no,resizable=yes,width=450,height=260,directories=no,location=no');" />

I was hoping this would fix the problem, but I have run 2 test orders and each of them is still showing the "Carica un file" text.

Anyone with more advanced knowledge of php and how VM posts order detalis could chime in here - help is appreciated...

Sorry if I sound like an idiot, but this is my first time with Joomla and virtuemart.

I have installed this component. I am using Joomla 1.0.15 and Virtuemart 1.0.

How do I add the upload facility as an attribute to a particular product? Some of the products on the site don't need the facility to upload, but some do.

I've tried to run an order all the way through but don't get the ability to upload a file. If I add the hack to the account maintenance page I can upload files, but it doesn't include an order number.

My ideal would be to be able to add it as an attribute for some of the products, or to have the upload after the order has been placed.

Please help - loosing sleep and my hair!!

Thanks

Hi Richard,

The upload component  isn't ready as an attribute for different products. You'll have to hack into it... There is no ordernr attachted to the uploaded file cause this also isn't implemented into this module.

I had the same problem with my current project; had to hack the component and other VM files. I hope to release the hack(s) fully explained when this project is finished. I want to share it - 'cause a lot of folks need it! Will try to implement it into a component but VM file hacks cannot be bypassed.

Sorry I can't make you happy at this moment - just grab a couple off beers before goin' to sleep - it might help  ;D

I have looked all over and can not find anything so if it is here I am blind and please forgive me. I am looking for VirtueUpload for VM1.1.1, does it exist? I run Joomla 1.5.3 and VM1.1.1 and honestly I was going to run a wrapper page with my uploads for my clients but this seems to be what I was looking for all along. I have tried the makers site at VMitalia and could locate nothing. This is honestly a nice addition to VM if I can find it for 1.1.1. Please if anyone knows whther it does exist somewhere if you could please let me know, or I will have to re-run my VM installation since the version of VirtueUpload screwed up my storefront.

Thank You in advanced for anyone and alls help.

Hello!

I tried to install the VU with the component-installer in Joomla 1.0.15 with VM 1.1.1 but it didn't work. I got the message:

Quote
Upload component - Upload Failed
ERROR: Could not find a Joomla! XML setup file in the package.

Upload component - Failed
Installation file not found:
/www/htdocs/XXX/media/install_4892e9191f5ec/com_virtueupload_110-14/

So what's the problem here? In the file is an xml.

Can someone help me please, I need this comp to run my shop? Or is there a better combination of VM and VU versions?

Got the component working with Joomla 1.5 and VM 1.1 but, and please correct me if I'm wrong, from what I've read there is a way to put the VU component into the VM admin config. Anyone have the code for this or the account maintenance hack?

I'm also having problems with the Save button in the component area so I can't change any of the settings except through the vu config file and they don't work properly all the time. I cannot get the shopper group set properly so the default is the only one that works. Any ideas here? If I could just put the VU settings into VM then I could care less if the options are working in the joomla component area.

Can someone create a new version of VirtueUpload for J1.5 and VM1.1.2?
Or at least tell us how to modifie and install the existing version.
We would all be very grateful.

I see there are a lot of people that need this upload component, as I do. It seems the people with the knowledge to do this however are not being all that helpful, which is fair enough.

My idea is why do we not pitch together and pay someone to do the update for VM 1.1.2 instead of complaining?

I am willing to pledge $10 USD

Any more additions?

Same here i will pledge 20 EUR for this tool, but needs to suppport multiple uploads, customer and order ID in the uploaded name. But rest is simple. Order some thing ask for the upload of the file, place the file in a save location and send out the order. via m@il

Hey, I found this posting at ScriptLance concerning this needed 'Project'.

http://www.scriptlance.com/projects/1244203752.shtml?hl=virtueupload

Appears that I am unable to contact the Job Poster to offer some financial 'assistance' to make this project happen.

Anyone thoughts on how we could collaborate our Pledges into actually getting VirtueUpload updated?

Just came across this on the Dutch Joomla site:
http://download.dutchjoomla.org/download/file/1421-bixievirtueupload-1-5-unzip-first.html posted on July 21.

I haven't had a chance to sign up / download / install yet, but the site would appear to suggest that this is Joomla 1.5 / VM 1.1.3 adapted.

Will report back once I have tried it!!!

I have just contracted this job online and I hope to make it available as soon as it is complete. I praying that the solution is one that will work for more than one type of developer. Being that I am paying for it, I will have to charge for it's download but I'm thinking $10. I figured that way it wouldn't be long before I recoup my costs and it wont break any of your banks. Thoughts?

Why you will build a solution when people can have a free one which is available and working very very well?

http://www.bixie.nl/downloads/doc_details/11-bixie-virtueupload-15 (http://www.bixie.nl/downloads/doc_details/11-bixie-virtueupload-15)

You only need to translate the language files not more...

I tested that component and module know for about 1 week and I like, so if you have troubles can ask....

The Dev of that comp comes at 11 August back from holiday...

I see this now and installed it, but the problem that I am seeing is that the language files are already in English - I can't find the dutch language files at all. Any chance you could point me in the direction of those files?

the dutch is in the files itself...they are defined with JText::_('dutch words');

with the language file in the package i had no luck ^^....Use http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/miscellaneous/development/6347 to create the correct languagefiles

Is this component still available? The site appears to be down, I'd love to get a copy of this.

Ok, it took some digging and a lot of guesswork on a Dutch site, but here is a download while the bixie site is down.
