Title: Leave a review link
Post by: Kuubs on October 16, 2019, 15:46:15 PM
Hello,

I have some issues with the rating system. Is it possible to add a link in the email or something so you can leave a review. I just want that people who bought the product can leave a review, but nowhere in the order process the customer has the option to do it. I see in the template that you have allowrating to be true, but how does the system know when there are no accounts on the web? Thats why I thought a link is a better solution. Is it possible to do this?

Because the option is there that people who boought the product can review, is that only a possibility with accounts?

Yes only logged in users can leave a review.

Not without custom programming. Or using another component for reviews.

This is actually even more restrictive as you have to have bought the product b4 u can leave a review.
All review management is via your logged in user area.
It can send reminder emails to leave a review but again the link would just lead u to login to leave a review

Isn't is possible to have a temporary link like any other major website does?

There are so many weird functions in Virtuemart that aren't working customer friendly. I don't get that honestly. So I have to develop a plugin myself that handles this?

Again major oversight. Do the devs actually order products online or are they just fussing around? This seems like a default function that should've been there.

You are welcome to contribute your code. You will get the same money that the developers get from You when You download VM.

I built this to mimic Amazon ...  when have bought a product from Amazon the only way to leave a review is to login to your Amazon account and go tho the reviews area and there u can leave reviews for products you have bought.
My component is exactly the same...
The reminder emails can be sent etc etc .. they just invite you to go to your account and leave a review.. works fine...

Sorry, I was a bit frustrated. I am working on my own custom solution that just loads the model and inserts it into the database itself. I haven't got much experience contributing to projects like this so I don't know if it would be appreciated.

I understand but there are loads of website where you checkout as a guest and can still leave a message. They just have a one time link, with a database that checks if you have left a review so you can still leave reviews of a purhcase.

Fine .. but somebody has to code/contribute and finance/donate it ...
I don't see anyone else asking for this...  and obviously follow this subject fairly closely
