Title: Custom field: string vs property
Post by: EvanGR on June 28, 2019, 10:31:02 AM
For adding additional product information, which is the better custom field to use? String or Property?

e.g.

Year: 2007
Author: John Smith
Pages: 367

Any advantages for using the one over the other?

(p.s. I plan to use the fields for filtering & search also, and want the optimal SEO configuration)

Thanks

type "Property" display a core field so get update if you change the original field.
But it's more simpler to add and manage own way to display a core field, if you can, especially if you want add the display for all products

String adds price variable without affecting product stock count.

Propert does not affect stock either. What do you mean by that. Use child variants or multi variants if you need inventory. Which is mostly the c  ase.
