Is there a way to print out every product in a category, or export all products in a category to a csv or text file?
My customer wants to do an inventory. He needs to reconcile the database with what is actually in his store, by category.
Any ideas?

For a product like Virtuemart it is a shame but:
There is no functionality to export or import products.
It might be sufficient to go with mysql and / or phpmyadmin and some SQL to export what you need. Working with Excel or the like for inventory and update stock in VM is easy than.
Importing new products is another kind of animal ..., i.e. CSVI might be of help or you implement something for yourself.

I think Studio42 has some back end management tool not sure if that manages import en export.
This is what I use to get inventory lists from category, manufacturer etc:

You can export and import csv files.
