Is it possible to make product search include the meta keywords? I often include various alternate product names and variations in there, that I want to be searchable. Thanks

Have you verify in the Virtuemart config, ithink that you can select "meta keywords" as search field
In VM->Configuration->Product Order Settings->Available Search Fields
There is no option to include meta fields.
You should add a topic. "Feature request add meta keywords as Available Search Fields", it's very quick to add for the team

Since important words used in meta descriptions and keywords normally should also be in the full product description and maybe the 'short description', I don't see why it should be important. Let me explain why this is important.
Buyers enter into the search keywords in various ways, and not only in the way they are indicated in the title or description. And just in the field of keywords you can list all these options and synonyms.
And to add these all variants of keywords to the description is terrible! They are not needed there, they interfere with customers and display a lot of unnecessary and useless text.
Thanks for the link, but the component you offer does not fit. It is necessary that there was not a choice of tags, namely that the search module was able to search by keywords.
Introduce, please, in the next version, search by keywords and meta description.

I'm pretty sure that a script which would do that doesn't exist yet. In my opinion that would be pretty useless anyway, because Google ignores the keyword meta data anyway. But since a few months Google does use the 'Creator', 'Credit' and 'Copyright' information from the ITPC data embedded in images (but currently only displays those on mobile devices as far as I know). It's important to understand that IPTC Photo Metadata is actually embedded in the image binary file. You can't add HTML tags or schema.org markup to add this metadata.
