We want some products to appear first in the lists, independent of the sorting method. Like marking them as pinned or important.
Is this possible?

Do you mean it can be done with standard VM settings? Or are you suggesting a custom modification? We already have a programmer who does custom work on demand. We just want to know if this is already possible out of the box. Thank you
You set the product on "featured"?
I just tried it. It doesn't change the ordering of the product (in category page).
btw... Default product sort order is set to "Product Name". We prefer alphabetical sorting as default, for normal products.
To show featured products turn their display on in your Joomla menu store item, on the subordinated category tab. Where they display is template dependant.
EvanGR, most website display "top list" before so else you use the featured list or write your own module or use this module https://shop.st42.fr/en/products/products-any-ways.htm, but other should exist with similar results as my module.
and if u want it to look seamless just restyle it to look like part of the cat view or load the module at the top of the cat view default template
