Researched forums to this issue: At registration of user there should only be certain fields, that are asked for, instead of asking for all the fields such as address, phone number etc. I have looked into older documentation for Virtuemart.

This no longer applies for VM 3.2.
I am referring to the "Show at registration" option. In addition I have read the new documentation for 3.2 here, and it says "coming soon", no solution yet.

At this time the VM Framework Loader re routing is set to no, however this could cause issues down the line. I rather tackle the issue now. Any suggestions are welcomed.

All the neccessary choices are there under configuration->user fields

I did find the values at the top of the Shopper Fields. However, when I select the Registration (Not required at registration), it gives me an error stating "The User field state could not be updated".

Not enough user rights ?
Need make a database update with the tools in configuration ?

The problem was corrected through by unchecking the "required" of the value.
