Hello!
In VM config I have checked 'one page checkout', 'Ajax for OPC' and unchecked 'show steps on checkout'.
When the user presses the buy button in the checkout without having chosen a payment method, a separate payment method page appears.
I do not want that. Instead I just want to display a Joomla! message about the need of choosing a payment method.
How can I configure VM to achieve that?

When the user is in the one page checkout cart, has not chosen a payment method, yet, and presses the buy button, the page of the step 'payment method' appears.
I do not want this payment methods page appear.
I just want the user be informed, that he needs to choose a payment method.

As far as I know there is no configuration option which results into what you want. I think the VM policy here is to present to the user the payment selection form only along with the notice 'Please select a payment method', so that it is impossible to miss the notice. I suppose on mobile screens it can happen otherwise that the additional notice is loaded outside of the current browser viewing area and therefore not recognized by the user after the OPC page is reloaded.
