Can someone help me? I have to take over this webshop? I did not build it myself. The webshop is not built up too logically, but I do not change that much. Customers do not receive confirmation mail when they place an order. What can I do about this or can someone help me?

Usual reasons for not sending not email on ordering:
The payment plugin does not return a confirmed order status to VirtueMart.
The "Default Order Status to send email to shopper" is incorrectly set in VM Configuration/Emails.
I have tried to change this but it remains the same. Can I do or try something else?
