Title: Price Overrides and custom fields
Post by: thePHPfactory on July 13, 2017, 11:54:41 AM
Hello

If set up a product with custom fields that have prices and also put an override for the price of the main product, then in the frontend the final product price in the cart is wrongly calculated

If in the frontend i choose any of the payable options - the price that shows in the cart is always the override one (so in fact any option is "free" in the cart)
The price reduction is no longer Price-Override price , but it's Price - OverridePrice + price for Option

How can i Add a price reduction that does not make the addon options free?

Attached is the backend setup

VirtueMart 3.2.2 + Joomla 3.7.3

That's what an override price does - it overrides all options to give the one price for the product.

To give a discount use a tax/calculation rule. This can be applied direct to a product or to an unpublished category, and the products that need discout also added to that category as well as their own. See https://docs.virtuemart.net/manual/general-concepts/204-tax-and-calculation-rules-overview.html

you are right, it works with calculation rule,
but still - my opinion is that  it's unintuitive that the override acts on the added options too

since i can not know beforehand what options the user chooses - it does not make much sense to have a fix  price regardless what he picks

It's been like that for a few years now with no complaints.  But if you have thick store owners it's not a fault of the software.    ;)
