Sorry for that I was on the ran so I've written the post quickly. Allright here are all of the information about the system and the template
The site is on Joomla 3.7.2 and VM 3.2.2. The template is fashionshop from http://www.virtuemarttemplates.net/
PHP 5.6.22
Any update on this one?
I'm having the same problem.
Fully updated Joomla and Virtuemart to the latest versions.
Joomla 3.7.3
Virtuemart 3.2.2
The original p[osters site is apparently fixed, so could have beeen SEF issue or problem with template or need to update configuration.

It would have been nice of him to share what worked for him...
I thought the culprit was SH404, but disabling it doesn't help... arghhh
hi,
When I updated joomla, the same thing happened to me, I tried to go to any category and the 404 error appeared
Joomla! 3.8.2 to Joomla! 3.8.3
PHP 7.0
Using VirtueMart 3.2.8?
VirtueMart 3.2.6
Hello!
Have exactly the same problem.
In main menu there is an item with VM category. When i press the item - i got an error 404. Firefox browser says "The page isn't redirecting properly". The link looks like that http://www.*sitename*.gr/index.php/*vmcategory*?error=404
In joomla :
SEF is ENABLED
Use URL Rewriting DISABLED
Joomla 3.8.3
VM 3.2.8
Template from GAVICK.
Thanks in advance.
Hi,
Just for the record, with the very last version downloaded today from Virtuemart.net + Joomla 3.8.5 : i have create a category product, a single product, a menu link to Virtuemart main page.
I also have the exact same issue : in the product page, i have a button "go back to category :" with the name of my category and the link do exactly the same as explained by dron_gr.
The link generated by the button is with sef activated : http://mysite.com/my_virtuemart_category/404.html
So, exactly the same as dron_gr....
Except hiding the button, any solution to solve this ?
Thanks :)
Xavier
Oups ! Forgot this :
PHP 7.1.13 - CGI-FCGI
Joomla 3.8.5
Virtuemart 3.2.12
Pack french language : 2018-02-01-05-07-37
Noticed many basic string looks to be "lost" (example : in the menu, when you create a menu, you get the var "COM_VIRTUEMART_CART_VIEW_ORDERDONE_TITLE COM_VIRTUEMART_CART_VIEW_ORDERDONE_DESC " and "COM_VIRTUEMART_VIRTUEMART_VIEW_DEFAULT_TITLE COM_VIRTUEMART_VIRTUEMART_VIEW_DEFAULT_TITLE_DESC " shown unstead of the french string...)
Please do no use VM 7.1. VM still has some issues with PHP 7,1

Hi Jörgen,
What version of php can i use then ?
7.2 ? 5.6 ? 4 ? ;)
Thanks :)
Xavier
To give a try, i have tested with PHP7.2, PHP5.6 (not PHP 4 :D ) : results is the same...
What is wrong then ? Do i have to hide the button or change the code to put a simple "javascript back" ?
Thanks :)
Xavier
Ok,
To get my page working until the code is working, i have created an override and change in default.php for productdetail at the line 68 from :
<div class="back-to-category">
<a href="<?php echo $catURL ?>" class="product-details" title="<?php echo $categoryName ?>"><?php echo vmText::sprintf('COM_VIRTUEMART_CATEGORY_BACK_TO',$categoryName) ?></a>
</div>
to
<p style="text-align: right;"><em><a href="#" onclick="history.go(-1);return false">Retour page précédente</a></em></p>
Like this, i cannot go back to category but i can avoid the 404 issue.
Xavier
To avoid the 404, i have created an override : unfortunatly, when i try to post the override on the forum, the message is not saved...
Xavier
oups, did not see the second page :D
