I have two almost identical websites
tiens-usa.com and tiens.sk both Joomla 3.7.2 and vm 3.2.2 and they are on the same server
The performance of the first one has rapidly go down (dont know why and dont know exact day).
For example they both have 96 products, but when i want to open admin page with list of products the first one throws error that memory limit 256mb has exceeded.
What can I provide you more to get answer?
They both have same components like Akeeba, JCE.

First try to change memory limit to 512 in your admin panel.

Yes websites are on the same server and max memory limit 256mb
I copy website to localhost and increased to 512 and it works ... very very long loading but working

Are the cart full of product in 1 shop ?
Try to delete all the products in cart
cart is empty ...
If you have the Firefox browser, you can use the Firefox plugin 'Firebug' and within this the 'Net' tab to check what is loading too slow.
In the frontend you are loading a lot of external stuff and images which are too big and have to be scaled down before they display. Perhaps some of those slow down the backend, too.
There should be something else

I tried to make clean install joomla, virtuemart and few components than switched db to original and performance is now perfect...
Ah .. then only you can know what changed.. code / extensions don't write / install themselves
There was nothing special just well known components like akeeba and jce
add in the ext. till it slows..
do this on a subfolder on the server then u know your comparing like for like
i have found that when i change cache from memcache to database and file then sites goes quick
but after some time website gets slow and again i change cache to memcache and site goes quick
but why?
If you use PHP7, disable memcache in Joomla and if you have many products, then try to completly disable the cache or use SSD on your server.
are there any recommendations for 5.6, 7.0, 7.1 ?
