I set my custom field as "searchable" but still don't filter my content, is this really not possible?

It's possible but functionality is currently limited. What's not working for you?

I have a text area I want to search inside the custom fields.

Can this be done?

I want to list something like:

Boiler 1 PCB
Boiler 2 PCB

Boiler 1 Printed Circuit Board
Boiler 2 Printed Circuit Board

Then the field will be hidden on the front-end.

So if a user searches either 'PCB' or 'Printed Circuit Board' it will return that product.

I cannot search for custom fields, for example I have over 300 Books and his authors are as manufacturer, but "lectors" are in a custom text field inserted, this is not in search included, possible to make it searchable?
