Got a problem with user registration.
Shopper recieves email but admin not.
Tried all sorts of tips & settings mentioned here but without a solution.
Could someone explain how to solve this.
See many people struggle with this problem, is this specific register email handled different?
Using joomla 3.4.8 , virtuemart 3.0.14
Thanks and regards,
Pas
what about the email from Joomla on registration?
This is set the same and working for admin and user, both receive email.
Is there an alterative to register users to virtuemart?
need this to check if user is for business. Add to different shopper group.
Thanks, Pas
I always have my vendor as a super admin .. so they get the email
and no.. registering whether by joomla or VM is ALWAYS registering in Joomla
the VM part is additional info is stored in the vmusers tables linked to the joomla user
My admin is also vendor, assigned to user group 'super users' in joomla.
Account id is set in vm and also checked for 'receive system mails'
Also tried to set id again in vm tools...
What if vm userfields are missing or configured wrong? could this block sending mail to admin only?
I also have installed dutch language? could this be a problem?
Thanks you so far.
Pas
Still isn't solved....all mail work fine except registration to admin!!!
Checked all plugin developers, templates, mail settings, hosting...doesn't work.
If anyone knows a solution to send a registration mail to admin I would be very happy!
Thanks.
Pas
I used a sort of workaround.
- I set the main email address as an alias (e.g. sales@myshop.com)
- The I associated this alias to each real email address that has to receive emails (Super User, each vendor and so on)
It is a quite strange way, but it works.
Thanks for the workaround,
Where do you set this email ( 'vm shopper information' or 'joomla') and what exactly do you mean with 'as an alias' ?
And how can I associate this to a super user?
Did you have same issue?
Thanks,
Pas
An alias is not a real email address, but just a sort of nickname associated to one or more real email addresses.
So when a customer write to sales@myshop.com, that is an alias, many people receive the same email:
- tony@myshop.com
- sue@assistance.net
- mark@brandanalysis.org
You can create the alias in your provider's webpanel. There, you can also associate it to the real email accounts.
When you set the password for the Super User (that, in my shop, is the main vendor), use the alias.
Hi just to let you know, tested with an alias didn't work.
Still all email works fine, except the most important registration email to admin!
Anyone with tips how to fix!
Thanks, Pas
Installed a new joomla 3.4.8 and VirtueMart 3.0.14.
No template, plugin or languages.
Test registration, but still no mail to admin!
Can someone tell me what could be wrong.
Thank you,
Pas
it can only be your config, either joomla (ignoring VM cos the email comes from Joomla) or your mail server stuff as no one else has this problem
what happens when you register just thru joomla or just as an admin make a new usr in the user admin
I get an email for all these if "Notification Mail to Administrators" is chosen in the j user config
Could be something silly I guess.
Joomla registration works fine.
VM user recieves email fine.
But as admin I need extra fields to see if registered user is for business (vat/business name) so I can add these to different group.
To add registration I use Menu Item Type: VM Account Maintenance
Installed clean versions of joomla & vm.
User - Admin - Receive System Emails -assigned group Super Users
Global Configuration - Mail Settings - Send Mail - Yes
Mailer * - PHP mailer
From email - admin emailadress
From Name - site name
Disable Mass Mail -Yes
VM Shopper Information:
Shopper Number / ID: as admin user
Send Registration admin email
Receive System Emails - yes
Configuration emails see screen
What am I missing???
Could this be related to the latest joomla mailer update?
Been testing all options without any luck!
Just the mail to admin after registration.
Thank you.
Pas

If you are using Joomla 3.5.0 or 3.5.1, it is most probably a Joomla bug.
Errors in sending and receiving emails have been reported. Google them.
Hi Claudio,
Problem already existed before 3.5.0.
Very strange but it's only the virtuemart registration email to the admin that doesn't work.
All other mail are ok.
Can't figure out why this is different...
Thanks,
Pas
Just a silly question, 2cool:
when you say admin, do you intend super user? Or what else?
Hi Claudio,
Yes, Admin/superuser = shopowner
All works but vm registration email not!
Need this to see if user registers as consumer or business.
Thanks,
Pas
I am testing VM3.0.16 before final fixes & release with J3.5.1 and registration email to admin works OK there. I have never set a VM site to use registration through VM, all have been "guest" checkout only, so rarely have checked this.
I rarely used this myself but in this case it's sort of important to see what customers fill in at vm registration.
Maybe i'm doing something silly but seems logic to me to use this feature...
Any suggestions are welcome.
Thanks,
Pas
I tested this function on a brand new site and it worked perfectly.
Probably it's indeed something silly... ;)
Have you configured your admin data properly?
- In the VirtueMart Orders & Shoppers -> Shoppers page, click your admin name.
- In the Shopper Information tab (it can be the only one), go to User Details frame
- Turn to Yes the Receive System Emails option (see the image)
Let me know.
Thanks, this is already set right.
But could these settings be wrong to prevent sending the vm register email?:
Vendor: --
Shopper Number / ID: should this be the joomla id?
Shopper Group: default and business (created)
Thanks,
Pas
QuoteShopper Number / ID: should this be the joomla id?
No. It's a different ID, specific for VM.
QuoteShopper Group: default and business (created)
Mumble...
Tray deleting both. You have to see
Available for all.
Never give up! :D
Finally!!! updated to vm 3.0.16 solved the registration email to admin again...

Pas
