Title: Custom Fields for custom shirt sales
Post by: rudeaz on January 12, 2016, 02:37:31 AM
I have been looking for a answer for about 2 days (sorry am new to virtuemart). I make custom t-shirts, I have many designs that are available in about 10 different styles (ie: Mens tshirts, mens tanks, womens tshirt, womens spaghetti strap, childrens shirts and so on) there is about 4 to 10 different colors and who knows how many different sizes for each style. Just wanted to know if there is a easier way to set this up, cause from what I am looking at is I need to make a child product for each style, each color and each size individually, than create a customs field for everyone of each. If I try to do this it will take me months of adding children to all my designs. So the question is, is there a way to just set it up to make a sku# by just picking a style and it add a letter or number, pick a color it adds another letter or number and so on to the sku? Thanks for helping and reading this post

If you need to track stock then you need children for each physically different style of T-shirt

Mens T-shirt, size XL, blue design is a child of "Mens T-Shirts Blue Design"  ...  S is another .. if u need stocking

If not then you can experiment with the custom fields ...  have a look at the demo or download and install VM with the sample data..
There are examples of all the possibilities.. patterns etc

If you need stock tracking then try that plugin
https://breakdesigns.net/extensions/stockable-custom-fields

Otherwise you can use simple custom fields. Strings or whatever
