Title: Lapidary products
Post by: Troels_E on December 01, 2015, 21:32:51 PM
www.stenogfritid.dk (http://www.stenogfritid.dk)
We sell lapidary equipment etc. and have recently moved from J1.5 and VM 1.1.9

Now we're on J3.4.8 and VM 3.012 and we are almost there where we can say site behaves like it should:-)

Template is now Hera from Virtuemarttemplates.eu (we ditched Reviver)
Some of the plugins we use: JCE editor, Acymailing, Akeepa backup, Jotcache, JCH Optimize pro, Rupostel One page checkout.

I'm learning VM from scratch as the old site was pretty easy to setup and just ran for years without me doing much about it. VM3 s is new to me so I'm very happy when I recieve help in this forum.
We're doing a multilanguage site which I have only tried once before (plain Joomla though) so this will be fun.

Template is Reviver which is build on the T3 framework.

In my honest opinion the Reviver template is a very bad choice from the user point of view. It looks nice, but includes a lot of VM hacks, which will cause trouble when you want to update VirtueMart with an original VM version.

Both, the Reviver and Flatastic templates are on my personal blacklist, because the developer likes to replace original files with his hacks instead of overriding them.

I am no developer but I knew you would say that and I also must admit reviver was choosen mainly because of the looks and comments I read about it. The last part I most likely didn't investigate enough.

I would like to change it to something lighter or more cleanly coded, do any of you have suggestions then please get in touch via PM or here.

@welrachid
Well it's live now, though it still needs a lot of work.

I ditched the Reviver theme as I thought I had time to do some work between christmas and new year.. Well time flies and I didn't get round to do anything until now.

I edited the original post to reflect the current state regarding template choice and plugins.

Godt nytår:-)
