I'm planning a shop upgrade from VM1.x to VM3.
Are there any extensions available for Virtuemart 3 that handle this functionality?
Basically a customer can specify at checkout / registration that they qualify for VAT exemption and the VAT is removed from their order.
Thanks.
do they have a certificate number or something or should I buy all my products like this from now on?.. ;)
This applies to mobility aids, hearing aids etc where the buyer has been diagnosed as having a qualifying disability by a suitably qualified health professional, such as a GP.
Under the VAT Act 1983 the buyer should "sign" a declaration of their VAT exempt status before purchasing. I guess the way to do this is to ask them to pre-register and then assign them to a VAT free shopper group. They can claim the VAT back after purchase if necessary, but that is not really shopper friendly.
brill, must make sure to get the vat back on my next truss.
Spot on jenkinhill
We've been using an extension on www.trendco.co.uk from Ecommerce Solutions called 'VirtueMart - VAT/Tax Relief' but unfortunately it seems no-one is at home over there anymore but I will try to badger them :-(
The exemption only applies to certain product categories so can't use shopper group.
This extension also cleverly takes off the VAT on the eligible products in the basket.
Yes, looks like the site isn't maintained now..
If this was a VM1.1 only extension is wouldn't be any use even as example code as VM 2-3 is a totally different code base.
VM3 has the ability to add additional form inputs in the cart but you still need the link between checking the box and removing the vat on only the products allowed -- some sort of plugin

So not a simple code conversion.
Is this something you could develop for me?
should be possible :)
as I say providing the fields should be a doddle -- it s part of VM now.
It is tying together a plugin that can drop the tax on allowed items that will take some thinking..
