Title: Quote Request or Enquiry for Multiple products
Post by: gkarly on September 20, 2015, 10:10:49 am
Hi
I really think Virtuemart should have this simple feature integrated and not require plugins or coding

You already provide the "Ask for Price" buttons but it is not very user-friendly when customers are interested in more than one product.

This Woocommerce Plugin seems Perfect to give an example of what I propose:
http://codecanyon.net/item/woocommerce-quote-request-or-enquiry/9197016 (http://codecanyon.net/item/woocommerce-quote-request-or-enquiry/9197016)
and this is the Demo:

I have searched the forums with no luck, I only found these solutions: hard code the system or change language files, still, customers have to deal with checkout... and the plugins I found here dont work as  I needed.   ???  :'(

I hope other people find this Request usefull and someone in Virtuemart gets it integrated  :)

Cheers

Maybe you can do something like that with Product Builder

Thanks balai  but that is not quite what I meant   ???  ... I meant that the customer should be able to:

Ideal scenario for Ask for Price:
1. Browse the store.
2. Select multiple products INDIVIDUALLY and not necessarily related to each other or within a bundle.
3. Add them to a "Quote Cart", just like they would add them to a Shopping cart or Whish List Cart.
4. Ask for Price on ALL of those products  Once and filling their contact details just one time.

Current scenario for Ask for Price:
Repeat steps 1,2,3,4 on each product that they are interested in, making your customer have to click Ask for Price and fill their details each time, or making your customers type the name of each product that they are insterested in on that form.

I do liked that VM Product Builder extention, I can see how helpful it could be, but not in this specific issue  :)

Multiple add of products is available for those who subscribe to Supporter Membership - http://extensions.virtuemart.net/support/virtuemart-supporter-membership-detail

And simple language/template overrides are all that is needed to convert from cart to quote for all selected products.

3. Add them to a "Quote Cart", just like they would add them to a Shopping cart or Whish List Cart.
4. Ask for Price on ALL of those products  Once and filling their contact details just one time.

Then i suppose that you need quite little changes.
1. Rename the Add to Cart to Ask for Quote
2. Rename the Cart page to Quote page
3. Hide prices. I suppose that you need to use prices to be able to use the cart process. But you can hide them with some css or by editing the output layouts
4. Modify the email template not to display prices.

That's it. An email will come both to you and your client. All the quotes will be saved as orders in your VM orders

Yea, I´ve seen those suggestions in other topics over here, some people asked for this since VM Version 2 and I think for version 1 as well), so I knew I wasn´t the only one that needed this feature  :-\

I wanted a solution that didnt involve hard coding or too many modification of core files, I dont want to have problems on each update.  And the code is already there on the "Ask for Price" option, it just needs the extra feature to request more than one product at a time.

I do hope someday you will consider adding this feature.... for now I kind of know what I have to do  :(  in case I run into trouble I´ll ask / search the forums then.  ;)

Thank you

But is is not hard coding. Nothing needs doing to the core, it is all in overrides, so is safe from overwriting during version updates.

All the suggestions concern either changes to the language strings or small changes to the output (html/css).
None of them is affected by updates

Thank you for your suggestions.... ok, so I can code it and keep updating.

::) I still think it would be awsome to have it integrated on the core.
