Title: Card Payments direct on the site?
Post by: jimleeder123 on August 27, 2015, 14:37:41 PM
Using Joomla 2.5 / Virtuemart 3. Our client wants to be able to take card payments directly on the site rather than through PayPal due to their charges etc. Is this possible through Virtuemart 3?

Thats a manual process. I've seen that in previous forum posts. We need an automatic card payment system direct on the website.

there's plenty but first find what bank he wants to use

sagepay, authorize etc -- but I don't think the charges will be any cheaper than paypal

I think he wants a system that doesn't charge for every transaction like PayPal or Just Eat. That would be ideal, otherwise we'd have to stay with PayPal.

That link doesn't look suitable.

1. No mention of Joomla/Virtuemart compatibility anywhere
2. Limits on amount of transactions per month

You develop your own integration or get help from one of their recommended developers:  http://payments.totalwebsolutions.com/Developers.aspx  and you negotiate whatever commission rate you can get for more than their included transactions.

This is the real world. There is no way to process card transactions that does not cost  a fixed fee/month and/or a commission on every transaction. The best option depends on the type of business, the average spend and the likely turnover.  The advantage of Paypal, Stripe, Amazon Pay etc is that there are no up-front or annual/monthly payments but there will very likely be a higher transaction charge than for example WorldPay.

Thats all very good but still the limit on amount of transactions is not acceptable. This client is our busiest client, they get many orders every day, let alone in a month.

Do u really think you will find card processor is going to offer you bargain basement card processing?

They are a business -- they have costs,  they are there to make money! -- tell your client to live with it..
PP charge

If you use a credit card to send money, a fee of 3.4% + 20p applies.

add it to the checkout price if he doesn't want to cover it

I know, I was doubtful tbh about finding a card payment system like that for Virtuemart. But if anyone can come up with anything, that'd be cool. I swear I remember seeing on Virtuemart 1 an option for card payments on the website.

On closer inspection at Total Web Solutions, I've sent them an e-mail to ask them some questions.

GJC is your component the best option to connect with them? Is it compatiable with Joomla 2.5, Virtuemart 3 and PHP 5.3.3?

By card payment on the site, I meant doing the card payment on the Joomla website without going into a third party payment service. Entering the data on the website.
