In the past, I set up all my custom fields as "Cart Variants" and "Is a list" with all the default values specified. This worked great! For each product, I added multiple instances of the custom field so that I could indicate the price.
Now with VM3, "Cart Variants" is gone, so we are using Custom Field Type of "String" with "Cart Attribute", "Cart Input", and "Is a list?" selected. At the product level I can add prices for each available instance of the custom field, but in the front-end I see multiple drop down menus. See screen shots. This is obviously not what I want. There should be one drop down with all the options.
The only way I can get this to work as expected in the front-end is if I de-select "Is a list?". Unfortunately, this is not an option for us, because we have a huge list of choices.
Here is my current setup for the custom field:
Custom Field Type: String
Show Title: Yes
Published: Yes
Custom Group: (none selected)
Cart Attribute: Yes
Cart Input: Yes
Description:
Default value: 2 Feet; 3 Feet; 4 Feet; 5 Feet; 6 Feet; 7 Feet; 8 Feet; 9 Feet; 10 Feet
Tooltip:
Layout position: addtocart
Admin only: No
Is a list?: Yes
Hidden: No

But it is changed again, so test it, but be aware that the param will be moved to another name (so your stuff wont work, when we release vm3.0.8)
Thanks for the download, but I do not want to install anything that will not work once I upgrade to the next version of Virtuemart.
What do you recommend for a live site?

i need to put different sizes and amount within my site and Custom Field is not working as it should, is this a bug or is there something im doing wrong?

I have this same problem while using Virtuemart 3.4.2 - ie multiple instances of the dropdown list in the front end when "Is a List" is selected.
Is this still a bug in Virtuemart - I just wasted 2 days trying to sort it out.

dont use "Is a list", but "as Admin list" so you see the list in the back-end, but option in front are then displayed correctly.
