I have a VirtueMart store with only two countries allowed: England & Wales.

I'm testing VM 2.6.0 on a local installation with Joomla 2.5.2. Whenever I add items to the cart and then go to check out, rather than the address being empty, the country field is already filled with England.

Does anyone have this issue also?

Either you use a geolocator plugin already, or you set for you country the id for england as default.

Thanks Milbo, we did indeed have a default country set.

This had always been set but not been a problem previously.
