Title: Currency Selector - Automatic Exchange Rate Update?
Post by: kellyguru on October 08, 2013, 16:04:39 PM
Hey there,

I am using the currency selector module in my joomla 2.5 website that comes with Virtuemart.

I am wondering if the currency exchange rates are updated by Virtuemart? If so, in what time frame? I assume they would be updated every day to assume the fluctuation of exchange rates, correct?

If they are not updated periodically/at all by Virtuemart, does that mean I would have to update them myself?

Thank you,

Exchange rate is automatically updated by connection to the European Central Bank when needed

Is this for all of the different currencies?

I do not see the Euro there.
Does that mean it is not automatically updated?

WTF. The Euro is the base price. Clearly stated on the site is the heading: Euro foreign exchange reference rates.

you need to do a bit of digging to find out why .. is the cached rates updating when u change currency ?
Isn't only if the cached rate is more than 6 hours old?
when is the cached rate saved?

It appears you have a succession of problems with your install - if u haven't got the skills to debug and fix you need to employ someone who has.
No one can know what is wrong in these obscure cases without intervention in your site ...  and that is way beyond free advice on a help forum - these problems do not exist on a clean fresh standard install with a stand template
That should be your starting point
