Title: POS for Webshops is released!
Post by: Doggiefield on September 02, 2013, 22:15:47 PM
We are successfully using a POS system for Virtuemart for several years now. After a lot of optimizing we think this component is ready for public use.

Some of our "Point of Sale" features.

A few screenshots from the POS.

The demo of the POS is available on our website.
You can check out the POS system as well as the VM backend. It is possible to make changes and add products or shortcut buttons in the POS system.
If you already have a barcode scanner you can download a pdf with the main barcodes and use these to add products.
If you don't have a barcode scanner you can add products with the shortcut buttons or you can use the search field.

The database is reset every hour,  on the main demo page you can see when the next reset is.

We are looking forward to your feedback.

Check it out on www.posforwebshops.com/point-of-sale-demo (http://www.posforwebshops.com/pos-demo)

wow, its sounds good, congrat! Can you made "trial version" ?  Because the price is relatively high and I want to try before buying (install, compatibility issues and etc)

Hi MekkE,

Thanks for the compliments!

We are convinced of our products, so we have a money back guarantee. Take our POS for a 30 day test drive! If you are not satisfied with our POS system, return it within 30 days and we will give you a full refund!

We believe it's better to have a product that is made for webshops then having a product that is adjusted to work with webshops.
A few years ago we ran into the problem of combining our online store and offline sales. So we tried to find a solution. But all of the software available where made for retail stores without a webshop. It could be adjusted to communicate with the webshop, but always will have it flaws.
That's why we decided to develop a new Point of Sale system. The software should be easy to use and has to work on every computer/laptop.

Before we started with building this POS we investigated the solutions that are available on the market:
We had to pay for the software (about 2-3 times our selling price) and (hire) a programmer/virtuemart speshitpillt to make the connection to our webshop ( for several days ) in addition we also had to pay a monthly subscription. All of this for a product that isn't made to work with webshops.

Our POS is made for webshops and is setup within 15 minutes. No subscription needed, once purchased you can use it forever!

Do the shortcut buttons have to be connected to a product in VM?

nice interface btw  8)

Hi testhuis,

Thank you, we've put a lot of time and thoughts in creating a nice and easy to use interface.

The shotcut buttons can be connected to a VM product but you also can create custom shortcut groups and custom shortcut buttons. Easy to use if you are frequently selling a product without a barcode or if a product isn't in the VM store.
We are busy with creating different video's to explain the different POS functions.
You can find a video for creating shortcut buttons on our youtube channel. http://www.youtube.com/posforwebshops (http://www.youtube.com/posforwebshops)

We are successfully using a POS system for Virtuemart for several years now. After a lot of optimizing we think this component is ready for public use.

Some of our "Point of Sale" features.

  • Every sale in the POS is put directly into Virtuemart as an order.
  • After every sale the stock is automaticly adjusted in Virtuemart
  • Possibility to use the POS "offline" as well as "online"
  • Barcodes are easily added in Virtuemart by adding a custom field and are recognised in the POS. Also the possibility to add barcodes in the POS.
  • The POS can be installed locally on your laptop/pc/mac (local Joomla installation), this way it also can be used without an internet connection. ( easy to use on a fairs ) When internet is available the POS synchronises the orders with Virtuemart and the stock is up-to-date.
  • Receipt is easy to adjust and ready for several receipt printers.
  • When you don't have a receipt printer, you can use your regular printer to print an invoice.
  • Possibility to control your cash drawer
  • Touchscreen ready
  • Easily create shortbuttons in the main screen with multiple tabs.
  • Sales reports – Balance register
  • Automatically apply webshop discounts to product prices
  • Assign order to customer and invoicing
  • Individual cashier logins
  • Web-based, it works on every computer.

Try out our newest Release Candidate. There are some major changes in this version.
The POS uses the Virtuemart Calculation rules for tax and discounts.
We made a new API to communicate with the Webshop, this allows us to communicate with other ecommerce systems.
The New Virtuemart EAN field and support the newest VM version.
Use of multiple barcodes.
Possibility to add a customer address on the receipt.
And more features are added.

Hi hhtmp88

Thank you for your question, but we don't support the Chinese language.
The POS is build on php so it should work on any server.

Two questions:
1. When will POS for Webshops support Virtuemart v3.0.2?
2. Is it support multi-warehouse? e.g. one small stock on shop#1, one small stock on shop#2, and one large stock in warehouse for the case of a two-shops company

Hi

1) Yes the POS ready for VM 2.5.X and VM 3.X
2) It isn't possible yet, but we are looking for options to implement multiple warehouses.

We have released our new Orderpick feature.
With this feature it is possible to open orders from the webshop and pick the orderitems from the store or wharehouse.
When every product is picked the order will apear green. Orderpicking is made a lot easier with this feature and will reduce the chance of sending the wrong (amount of) product(s)

Read more about this on our website: http://www.posforwebshops.com/features/orderpicker (http://www.posforwebshops.com/features/orderpicker)

Hi,
Sorry if I missed... Is there an option for orders from the website to be printed automatically immediately after the checkout? (I would like to use it for fast food)

Thanks,

GL

Hi,

Yes it is possible to print the receipt immediately. The POS uses the ESC-POS commands to communicate directly with the receipt printer.
When using the POS on a live site you will need to use the pop-up first, but when installed on a local pc or laptop the POS will print the receipt immediately after choosing a payment method.

I have looked at your demo before but was never really prepared to make the move to a POS system until now.

A few questions.
1. Can POS for webshops be run from a tablet like other POS solutions?
2. I have a lot of products in my shop that will not be present in the webshop how is that handled?
3. I was looking for a forum at your site as it's usually a good indicator as to how much trouble people have and how well support is. I cannot find any user impressions of your software.
4. How is it working with printers, we already have a star TSP 650II bluetooth printer for receipts (at the moment using izettle via Ipad, works great but misses features and naturally is not webshop integrated)
4. The price is for 12 months incl. support, is there any renewal discount or any campaigns on the horizon :-)

Any users of the system who'd like to comment on how well this works and if there is features they miss.

Hi

Thank you for your interest.
I'll answer your questions by number:
1) Yes it is possible to use the POS from a tablet. I've done so with a windows tablet with a usb barcode reader.
2) You have 2 options: a) add those products to your website but deactivate them. They still will be recognized by the POS.
                                     b) Add new products in the POS; these won't be synchronized to the webshop but still will show up in the orderlist of the webshop
3) We are using a ticket system for support
4) I didn't test this printer, but it shouldn't have any problems. We have tested other Star / Epson / Other printers without any problems. Maybe it's good to know that (when installed on a local machine with a local server) the POS will use the ESC/POS commands of the printer.
5) When you would like to renew your license the renewal discount will be applied. see https://www.posforwebshops.com/component/virtuemart/software/pos-for-webshops-renewal-detail?Itemid=162 (https://www.posforwebshops.com/component/virtuemart/software/pos-for-webshops-renewal-detail?Itemid=162)

How much do you test your component with beta and RCs of new VirtueMart releases ? I see that a feature like 'discontinued' now in 3.0.19.x could make sense for articles that won't be renewed when stock is down to 0, and I would be interested in using new VirtueMart version once it's released for production... Would the current release of POSforWebshops support newer releases, or if you see any incompatibility in testing will you warn your client base?
I'd be interested in renewing my subscription but I know you've had some reorganisation going on that has caused reactivity to tickets submitted to take a hit.
Put bluntly I don't want to renew if no new releases come. I don't intend to sound harsh or critical, and I am very pleased with the component so far... Just thinking of the future and wondering how things are unfolding for your team.
...And wanting some reassurance of future versions, compatibility and support...
David

Hi David,

At the moment we are rebuilding our website. we had some issues with the current one. We hope to finish the website in the second half of next week.
Since the POS is build to work on a local server as well, changes in the ecommerce component won't break the POS. In case of a major change in the ecommerce component we need to change the connector in order to use the correct fields for synchronizing. We try to keep up with the changes that are done in Virtuemart.

We are building a complete new version of the POS. I hope we will have a first release in the next few months.
Our customers with an active POS subscription will have the first option to test this.

Hi,
do you have any news on the new version/rewrite ?
We're stuck with PHP 7.0 as the dependency with mcrypt causes an upgrade to PHP 7.2 to fail.
I'd consider renewing a support subscruption but i do need some sort of guarantee that there will be newer versions and they will be maintained up to date with other parts of the overall ecosystem (joomla, VM, php, etc...)
