I'm actually working on a site, dealing with workwear.
As it's for the medical sector the unusual part is, that they offer tons of colors instead of "white only" :D
Now my customer would like to display the products by "colours available" - no problem so far as we created a category for each colour.
BUT!
The biggest wish is to diplay only the related images within the colour-category :-\
So if you click on Colours => red, only red (thumbs) should appear and so on.

Any ideas - I searched a lot but didn't find anything :(

Let's try to explain it this way:
- We have a shop (VM 2.0.22a on Joomla 2.5.14)
- 60 categories within the shop, whereof 20 are made to display products "ba colour"
- abt. 200 products, partly in multiple categories
- most products are available in different colours (white, green, blue, red...)
- each product has (as usual) a MAIN-IMAGE plus additional images to show the other colours
- a thumb of the MAIN-IMAGE is shown in EVERY CATEGORY
Standards so far ;D
And now the tricky part:
The shop-owner would like to show the colour-related thumbs (for example thumb of green shirt in the subcategory "green").
As far as I can see, the thumbs are general generated from the MAIN-IMAGE and appear in EVERY CATEGORY.

Is there a way to assign thumbs of additional images to specific categories (for category-view)?
You could show additional product images on category page. I saw thread called "How to display all product images on the Category page?" on forum. Did you at least try forum search button?
Yes certainly I could show additional thumbs on the category page and certainly I searched this and other forums in many different ways ;D

You said 'related images' and not 'related products'.
You could make clones or childs for each color.
the right values in the basket every thing else he is doing the right way like you said I want to know it is normal and not a bug of my configuration
