Have a look at this  http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=101345.msg336103#msg336103

I read your post and your stackoverflow post and thought it was put across quite rudely.
Virtuemart is OpenSource and everyone in the forum helps out for free.

hi thanks for reply
but the plugin is paid! i don't want paid.
this kind of common requirement should be covered by vm2 for free as vm1  had this feature.
also i found out from your links to attach pdf file but not zip file and how do i do like the product zip file will be available to download by user after payment successful, its a normal flow of digital product download.

I'm sure that I saw free plugin in 3rd party section or in Extension VM catalog.
You could find it if you really interested in such solution for your business.

I'm just curious.

Do you understand what does it means when such kind of extension is free?
Which range of options for this extension could be free?
How much could be motivated developer of this extension for such a 'big' fee?

And you're now saying

i don't want paid.

Anyway it's not Virtuemart business any more to take care about every possible shipment methods.
And selling downloadable files is definitely just one of such methods.

It's very good that VM2 don't try to deal with every possible wish of shop owners any more.

Goodbye Almighty Harry Potter.

@pishnyak
:) you have a point. But i Definitely argue that having downloadable file with product is a very common thing which vm as a top e-commerce extension should not miss.In this digital era applications, softwares, e-books, songs, videos selling is very high demanding.I have seen many free top class e-commerce applications/applications which have ways to attach downloadable files. So vm seems interpreting it another way!. This definitely will decrease lots of business with vm i can say, most viewers will agree with me.

anyway, so there is no way to attach zip file with product and there is no reliable free plugin out there?

Having free plugin doesn't puts free e-commerce application in top league.
Instead having API (i.e. plugins) for 3rd party developers allows these creative people concurrent with each other to give better service and support for shop owners.

I doubt that 35 euro is the question of life or death for digital web shop.
It's rather question how greedy web shop developer is.

I able to see there "Product Download Plugins for VM2".

Ofc in that thread developer talk about free version not at the beginning of his post.

But hell I believe that there's no web shop developer in right mind gonna use free version.

Peace.

It will not take much time to make it complete as i am a developer. So i don't want to spend expensive $20, and it going right way for me.

Thanks all for replies!

Hehe, that was exactly how I felt when I wanted to sell my plugins with virtuemart and was looking for a proper download plugin. I started (and finished) writing my own, but to be honest, I absolutely underestimated the complexity of such a download plugin.

Good luck with the development, and it would be great if you could share your results with others, too.

Hehe i am quite fair about that. What download plugin you using if available to get online? i went through the spiral plugin for download and it seems good and yes complexity is high.
now what my final plan is - i am going to set condition in the components\com_virtuemart\views\productdetails\tmpl\default_customfields.php file so that download link appears only if the current user order status is confirmed.

I initially also tried the (paid) spiral plugin, but then I wanted the download link to also appear on the product page and to have a "Your downloads" page for each user, where all available downloads of the logged-in user are displayed. So I wrote my own "Downloads for Sale" plugin: http://www.open-tools.net/virtuemart-2-extensions/vm2-downloads-for-sale.html

The problem with simply hiding the download link in the productdetails view is that the file can still be downloaded if the user knows the URL. In particular, if an order is later refunded or cancelled, the user will still be able to download with the old link.
The check for the order status really needs to be added to the download step, too (and to the link display).

hi reinhold
Thanks for identifying url leak.I will set condition in file download function in plugin's php file so it will also check order status for current logged in user is confirmed or not.I want to hear other leaks if any i missed.

Thanks
