Title: [ SOLVED ] Ask a question about this product not working

Using VM 2.0.10, Joomla 2.5.6.
When I press the button "Ask a question about this product" and complete the form I get the following error:
500 - Layout default not found
You may not be able to visit this page because of:

    an out-of-date bookmark/favourite
    a search engine that has an out-of-date listing for this site
    a mistyped address
    you have no access to this page
    The requested resource was not found.
    An error has occurred while processing your request.


Any ideas as to the cause of this?

I have same problem. I looking for same problem in google or other forum but it seem that only me and you have this problem!!
Please tell me how i can modify ask for question/price

I have the same problem, please if someone know the answer.
I tried what is recomended in post: http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=108319.msg362715#msg362715 but doesn´t work, the default template don´t send the message also

Hello,

VM version? Joomla? PHP? Did you try without template overrides? Did you try without SEF enabled? Do you use any third party sef component?
What records you have inside your joomla error log??

Any live url? Check it firebug also to verify the link ...

no third party sef component

Sorry, I don´t know where to find the joomla error log... :-[

Hello,

You joomla error log is located under joomla_root_folder/logs/error.php

Also your sef is enabled, please disable it ... also disable the usage of .htaccess and url rewriting from joomla global configuration, last disable your template overrides ...

Also please your exactly PHP version ... PHP 5 is to general ... is php 5.2.x? 5.3.x?

I disabled every item in seo configuration.
In error.php the last error is (very old):
2012-12-06   19:25:05   INFO   201.212.155.146   Joomla FAILURE:    El usuario y contraseña no coinciden o usted aún no tiene una cuenta. (wrong user and password or not created)

the php is 5.3.19

Hello,

No this is not related to your issue, is just wrong login on the backend.

Just test your link and is working fine, i send you a test mail for ask a question ... propably your error was related to joomla configuration live url, sef and htaccess file wrong configuration

btw, the music files you are loading makes your site too heavy ... long time to load your components and stuff ...

The function "Ask question about this product" look like if it was working right, but it dont send the message, sometimes it show the error: "You must provide at least one recipient email address".

1 of 10 times I tried it work. In other post I read about a problem with the smtp send, I have to use this method because my server don´t has php support

Thanks again for your answers and sorry about my english, my language is spanish :)
PD: Yes bytelord the music is heavy...i will use other file

Yes,

Probably something got's expire there, because automatic the ask a questions loads the vendors mail address for from and clients mail address if is completed or automatic if is logged on. May be that load music files loading cause any expiration ? Not sure, but try it...

Hi ):

I post here because i have the same problem with "Ask question " pointing to an error 500

I have disabled my personnal template to verify if its a problem from the theme but with the normal theme its the same. Error 500 when i just post the form "Ask for price/question"
Maybe its a problem of mail configuration but ...

i have some ununderstanding about this problem . I am running Acymailing and it working ...Cbuilder and its working ... so its on VM part .

Hello,

I test it and is working fine with me, i send you an email. Please for error 500 check your joomla error log file, it could be related to third party sef component or bad configuration inside htaccess file if you mod_rewriting enabled.

its solved i have found the problem ...

When you check "Ask question" in the configuration it works but if you unchecked it Error 500 .. its because my flexibledesign template use the askquestion form to make a sort of call for price .. thats why it was not checked for me ...

I have really an amazing boring issue with the "CUSTOM FIELDS" order ... and with the search or google i found
The order you choose in the admin backend for your custom fields isnt take in consideration . Its really a boring issue if you could help ...

Nice,

Always remember to validate your issues without template overrides, using joomla beez20 and vm2 default template. That will help you to validate is this related to joomla, joomla configuration, vm configuration or finally is a template or a plugin/module issue.
