Disabled checkboxes for you, until the script is quite ready to handle your clicks. Now it's fine.

Does it require any hack to the core or changes to the layouts?

Please see the demo: http://virtuext.com/joomla25/virtuemart/handtools.html  (http://virtuext.com/joomla25/virtuemart/handtools.html)

Check the "Compare" box for selected products, while browsing categories, or product pages; click on "Compare selected" button - get the comparison chart.

You can check unlimited number of products to compare.

The comparison table will only show custom fields, relative to products you checked. Say, if one of your products has no custom fields, the other one has fields A and B, and the next one has fields A, C and D, there will be displayed three products with the list of fields A, B, C and D.

The number of custom fields is unlimited. The comparison table currently displays strings, numbers and boolean (yes/no) fields.

I'm looking for something like that, but I have some questions first.
I'm uploading products to the webshop using a shop-connector with JTL-WAWI (http://www.jtl-software.de)
That means that every shop-update is overwriting data on VM.

How/where are the "compare-data" entries stored..?
What datafields is VX compare using? Maybe these are not touched by the shop-connector...
I every product 'available' to be compared? Or do I have to set/select them?

best regards,
Flex

Hello,

VX compareAll just puts products you selected to compare in a row ("comparison chart"). So, there is no any specific "compare-data", no extra data to store, and nothing can be affected by product details update. If you can see the product in the front end, you can compare it.

You will see the common part of each product in a chart: name, picture, short description, price, "add to cart" button. Please see the demo (http://virtuext.com/joomla25/).

If at least one of products, selected for comparison, has at least one custom field, this field will be listed below the products in a row.

The extension is currently set to compare custom fields of string, integer and boolean types.

You don't need to "set" products to be available for comparison, so you can compare any products from any category. There is no limit for products number in a chart. You may also uncheck the product at any time, while browsing the product category, product details, or the comparison table.

Best regards

Hi,

Can I set only certan custom fields to appear in the comparison? So if I have 50 product specifications in custom fields, I want only 25 of them to get in the comparison table.

Kind regards

Hello,

The VX compareAll shows all custom fields published for compared products. Which means, if you have 50 custom fields set, and compare two products, one of those with fields A, B and C, and the other with B, C and D, you will have the comparison chart with fields A, B, C and D, not all 50 fields.

If the field is published and set for the certain product, it will appear in the comparison chart for that product. However, you may set certain fields as "Admin only" or "Hidden" in the VM settings, so those fields will not be displayed in the front end. In other words, VX compareAll follows the VM custom fields visibility settings.

Best regards

Hello,

Sure the products short descriptions are displayed by default in the comparison chart. You can see it in the demo (http://virtuext.com/joomla25/).
