I am trying to install VirtueMart into a Joomla site version 1.5.20 on a local host server and am getting the following error:

Error! Could not find an XML setup file in the package.
Unable to find install package

I am not quite sure what I am doing wrong. Can someone please help? Thank you.

I'm getting the same error message and I *HAVE* unpacked the zip file.  (I am a first time user of VirtueMart and new with Joomla but think I have done exactly what the install instructions state.)

As ststed here before, VirtueMart 1.1.8 is not compatible with Joomla 1.6

Joomla 1.7 should be released later this month, VirtueMart 2 should be J1.7 compatible (although it cannot be checked until 1.7 is released).
