Hey all!

I have a site that I am working on and it has recently started causing issues. The whole site appears to work correctly and I can view articles and the categories of the shop but when I try to view the products in either the browse or an individual product it requires me to log in.

I've tried changing the various security settings but still no luck.

Please help because this site needs to go live very soon!

Hello, sorry for trashing your thread with my problem, but i seem to have something similar about.
I read that with the default settings, everybody (even not logged in users/visitors) should be able to browse the shop. But for some reason they can not. I am using virtuemarts login box as login module (well thats not needed for visitors). They can see the most top level of the shop (in this case, the car models). But upon clicking on one of the top categories, the shop displays "To access the private area of this site, please log in. ". Im baffled, tried to set everything (atleast everything i can think and understand) to allow visitors browsing. Still nothing.
the webpage is www.crownparts.ee - can anyone name me the most important options that i should check, that can influence the visitor browsing?

Thanks in front,
Erki

Yes, deleting the menu item (although i had already hidden the user menu!) solved the problem!
thank you very much jenkinhill for linking the thread, and thanks to Ruppert in that thread for discovering how to solve it!

I am a complete newbie, with a current version of both Joomla and VirtueMart installed, and I have also had this same problem, but the fix you listed above didn't solve my issues. I don't have any menus or menu items that are for registered users only. I have disabled the Joomla login module (though the Virtue Mart login module is enabled), and I have also tried every possible security setting.

This would be something helpful to add to the user manual.

My site is at design.joyfulmomma.org. I would like to go live with this soon, but I cannot do this with my shopping cart making people log in to view products.

Thank you for any help you may offer.

OK, because I couldn't find the answer to this problem and needed to make my site live soon...I played around with it until I got something. If you have tried all of the above solutions and they still are not working, try this:

Go to your Virtue Mart Component in Admin

Click "Admin-->List Modules"

Scroll Down for "Shop"

Unselect everything except "None" and save.

Presto.

Maybe this should go in a new edition of the user manual if the default is to keep the products invisible to non-registered users?

Have a great labor-free Labor day everyone.

The default on VirtueMart installation is for none to be the only choice selected for the shop module.

Many thanks to you and JoyfulMK!   That has resolved my problem and I'm sure that it will be the same for all the other posts.
Thanks again
