PayPal Pro - Checkout with Credit Card not working

I just upgraded to 1.1.6 (official release) and have the exact same problem.
Has anyone found a solution for this yet?

I am sorry but we know there are still some issues left in PayPal API in VM 1.1.6. We're definitely going to have a look at them in the next weeks. I'll report any update on the dev/coding forum.

How much would it cost to speed this up? I was planning on going live this weekend but I upgraded to 1.1.6 and now have this problem. I don't really want to downgrade.
