Hi there, is there a basket plugin for Virtuemart? I want to be able to add something like:

  shopping bag (1 item) $20

into a custom HTML module which is the footer for my site. I don't want a module for the shopping bag as the footer module has other HTML stuff inside and I want to place the basket in there with it.

Please don't say that I can't run plugins in modules because you can using this extension: "Plugin In Module".

I doubt a plugin like that exists however I have been using quickcart extension which sounds like it'll do what you want if you can work around the issue of it being a module.

While I'm currently having an with my site issue that may related to that module it has otherwise been working perfectly.

Perhaps even something as simple as including the code <jdoc:include type="modules" name="replaced_with_module_position_here" style="xhtml" /> in your custom html would let you display the module there.

Thanks crowd of one. I actually got hold of a module that does the same thing. Then there is a cool Joomla trick that lets you make a module into a plugin. Anyway needing to do this, just have a search on google for "module in plugin". There are some easy steps to follow.
