Hi Guys, hope everyone is good today,

quick question I have a joomla and virtuemart shop hosted on Streamline.net the site is all setup and working fine apart from the payment part. we are now going to use google checkout for payment and I have purchased a shared SSL through the same people.

Now I haven't got a clue what to do, I have Changed the SECUREURL setting from http://yourdomain.com to https://yourdomain.com/~user

but this doesn't work, I have been given some SSL ftp settings from our hosting provider, which leads me to think that I have to move some files into this web space, sorry if I am not explaining very well I am very new and this, and it is my very first online shop.

Please help

I am lost

I think you don't need SSL to use Google Checkout as all secure functions are handled on Google's server.

Shared SSL? Ask the host the precise url to use & put that url in VM config/security secureurl (don't forget the trailing slash).

Please do not PM or Email me with support questions. I look at PMs only once a month. You will get better and faster responses in the support forums.

Current recommended release versions are: Joomla! 1.5.23 :: VirtueMart 1.1.8

URGENT:  Help VirtueMart development by testing  version 1.1.9

You need to have an SSL for Google Checkout (GC) Level 2 integration. In your GC admin panel there is a place for callback url and in it you need to insert an SSL URL. The confirmation sent back updates the status of the order from pending to complete. GC will log errors if you do not have this.

I do not believe that GC will work with a shared SSL. You need to purchase an exclusive one. It then needs to be installed onto an extra IP address on your server which you will also have to purchase.

If you are using CPanel then ask your host how to install certificates.

Hi let me explain where I am at now, sorry forgive me as I am very new to this

I have followed the instructions below

In order to configure VirtueMart to use Private SSL you should follow the instructions below:

1. Log in your VirtueMart site with the administrator’s username and pass

2. Enter the VirtueMart admin area by clicking on Admin link in the left menu

3. Click on Admin link in the top menu of the admin area and choose Configuration from the drop down menu

4. Click Path & URL tab

5. Change the SECUREURL setting from http://yourdomain.com to https://yourdomain.com

VirtueMart and shared SSL certificate

To configure VirtueMart to use the shared SSL certificate, please follow the steps 1 through 4 above. You just need to change the SECUREURL setting from http://yourdomain.com to https://serverip/~user, where the server IP is the IP of your host server and the user is the username you use to login to your CPanel. You can find your server IP and your cPanel user in Customer Area->Manage Accounts section-> Manage page of the account in question.

Now I get Not Found
The requested URL /index.php was not found on this server.

this is my website www.thetrainingbuzz.co.uk and this is the ssl https://thetrainingbuzz.ssl-01.com/

do I need to add any files to the ssl space as I have a ftp username and password  for this

please can someone help

I can see your secure site under https://www.thetrainingbuzz.ssl-01.com/, but because you are using a shared certificate it is throwing up a warning.

Open virtuemart.cfg.php (administrator/components/com_virtuemart) look around line 34 for this

Code:
// these path and url definitions here are based on the Joomla! Configuration
define( 'URL', 'http://www.yourdomain.com/' );
define( 'SECUREURL', 'https://serverip/~user/' );

Make sure these 2 settings correspond to the instructions.

I pay £99 a year to host up to 10 domains,

this is what I am getting now, a pop up box

www.thetrainingbuzz.ssl-01.com:443 uses an invalid security certificate.

The certificate is only valid for <a id="cert_domain_link" title="*.ssl-01.com">*.ssl-01.com</a>.

(Error code: ssl_error_bad_cert_domain)

Hello monkeygirl, I have watching another thread which you have posted on. Im afraid that I could not solve this issue despite spending 3-4 hours with ace2721.

Are you on a fasthosts shared hosting account?

Send me a PM with a Skype name and we can chat
