How to force selection in attribute dropdown boxes ?(select attribr. mandatory?)

Hello,

How to make the attribute selection mandatory in attributes dropdown boxes ? I want the customer to select an attribute field before submitting a product to the shopping card.

Example : when I sell T-shirts, the client has to select a size... The dropdown box is filled with : (-choose-, -S-, -M-, -L-).

The validation will alert user on which attribute is missing (ex : no size has been choosen !).
When the client visits the product in the front end, the dropdown box is empty or filled with the message 'choose an option').
