Registration still not working on my site... have been trying to troubleshoot this for days! The previous V.M./Joomla install before upgrade was working with this template, but not now.

New User billing info form on Checkout, when pressing Send Registration, loops back to the same page with no explanation. I checked the ps_shopper.php code between the two V.M. versions and they appear identical. I've tried ALL of the suggested fixes on the forum posts... turning off SEO, omitting extra fields, etc...

I need to get this solved! Willing to pay for help!

Joomla! 1.5.6
Virtuemart 1.1.2

I had the same problem.  On the registration page after clicking "Send Registration" it looped to the same page.

I had one extra field in Admin/Manage User Fields (vm_extrafield).  I unpublished that field and the problem is solved.  Roland pointed this out in an earlier reply, so thanks Roland.  It fixed my issue.

trapana-

You actually don't have the same problem.  I just tried to create a new account on your site but it went to a blank page when clicking "Send Registration" instead of looping.

I noticed that you have mandatory account creation.  Just curious, are your Joomla! registration settings correct for this setup?

I was just looking for it.

Actually registration setting in my site are:

JOOMLA CONFIG
    Enable user registration YES
    User Activation NO

VIRTUEMART CONFIG
    Type of registration NORMAL

Think this is right configuration, isn't it?

Another thing is that even if you see a white page it register your email

READY TO DUMP VIRTUEMART!!! I haven't been able to get the registration working since upgrading... was working fine before upgrading to V.M. 1.1.2. It's too much work to "downgrade" back to Joomla 1.0.

THIS SUCKS!  Customers cannot register or buy products, completely eliminating functionality. THis is a site killer! Have wasted HOURS and HOURS trying to fix this. VERY DISAPPOINTED in this upgrade and HORRIBLE support on this forum.

Site is http://www.serpents-kiss.com.  Any recommendations on converting a Virtuemart database to another product?  Need to implement a new solution today!

Have you check which version of PHP you have. Check requirements & what you have in use.
Maybe you have to update PHP???

Yes I have, I use PHP version 5.2.5-0.dotdeb.2 and that must be sufficient.

And you have check those smtp configurations in Joomla. You have configurate admin email-address aand so on...

I had manykind of a problems with my VM. Most of those were because database didn't updated as expected.

So try to check database tables, maybe there is a default information which cause problems.

It's probably easiest if you turn 'DEBUG' on in your VM configurations. Then try to register to the page and read closely what the debug code says. Watch those 'jos_vm_xxxx' tablenames and if you see that something is not right use phpadmin to log in database.

Found the problem.
In the Joomla configuration the Cache was set "off" but the plugin Cache was enabled and that caused this strange behaviour. I disabled the cache plugin and everything works fine now.

It looks like the problem here is that the user with the email address already exists...but virtuemart doesn't give you a

"A user with that email already exists"

message.

If ANYONE knows how to make virtuemart do this, please help.  :>

I agree this is totally annoying.  I've worked around it by just setting the user registration to "Silent" --  at least I can have a functioning store with user accounts that way.

So I finally found that it's posted clearly here in several threads...For anyone still facing these registration issues...

It's not a bug that needs fixed, you just have to have your settings correct:

  • Joomla > Site > Global Configuration > System: "Allow User Registration" is turned ON
  • Joomla > Site > Global Configuration > System: "New User Account Activation" is turned OFF
  • Joomla > Extensions > Module Manager: Disable standard Joomla Login
(*Note: I was also using the YooTheme YooLogin and had to disable it as well)
  • VirtueMart > Admin > Configuration: set your "User Registration Type"
(I was able to use "Normal" and "Silent" without problems)
  • *ALSO NOTE* - I had to make sure my Joomla/VM/server email was working properly as well, before the user registration would work.  For me that meant going into the Joomla > Site > Global Configuration > Server: and setting my "Mail From" to an email address that was @ the same domain/server as my Joomla/VM site.

My issue was this:  Whenever a new customer would add an item to their cart, then begin the checkout process, they were not able to register and create a new account.  After completing the fields, then clicking "Send Registration" they were shot back to the registration page again.  After changing the above settings (disabling the modules was my big hangup), things are working perfectly.

If anyone still needs more info, this post basically explains things in detail:
