We too are receiving this error:

Error: 3-3-123-P---This account has not been given the permission(s) required for this request.
Error: Failure in Processing the Payment (ps_authorize)
-------
Joomla 1.5
VM 1.0

Wondering if the payment processing using Authorize.net with virtuemart is simply broken? Does anyone have this working out of the box?

Need to know if we should abandon this or not?

Make sure you have the correct API login and transaction key in the payment method configuraiton.
