I have several extremely large and heavy items in my store that we deliver by truck ourselvs. I would like to set shipping to free on just those items. Is there a way to do this? Currently we are just using the USPS module.

Thanks,

Lawrence

Set the product weight to 0. And then provide a 0 shipping rate for weight 0 to 0.0001 in standard shipping module.

Hooray!  I think... Cheesy

Here's my scenario:

I have Music CDs for sale and Downloadable MP3s.  I use the USPS Shipping Module for the shippables and want to use FREE or N/A shipping for products that are downloaded.  OK...

1. The product weights for my MP3s (FREE SHIP ITEM) are ALL set to "0".
2. I created a new Shipper named "FREE" and a new Shipping Rate also named "FREE", with a rate of "0".
3.I assigned the new Shipper "FREE" to the Shipping Rate "FREE".
4.  Finally, go to the "Admin/Configuration" Shipping TAB and enable the "Standard Module (RECOMMENDED" along with USPS and any other that apply to you.

I assumed it had to be one shipping module or the other.  But it can be as many as you need.

TESTED:
1. I placed an order for 3 MP3s and shipping came up at FREE - Yay!
2. I placed an order for 3 MP3s AND a mailable CD and the shipping came up ONLY for the mailable CD with no extra added for the MP3s.

I hope this helps, so much so, I've included screen shots.  I have STRUGGLED with this for WEEKS!!!!!  Cool

I have a similar problem. I have a few products that have free shipping but only if they are within a certain area (postcode). I can set this up using the Standard Shipping module as explained above.  But as it is only free shipping to a certain postcodes i can’t set the weight to 0 (zero) as the shipping costs will then be incorrect if someone ells orders that is outside the “postcode” that has free shipping.

Any suggestions for a workaround is most appreciated.

Wow... That seems simple enough, but I have no idea how to make that happen.  You may need to have it custom coded.

Add a 0 rate for the zipcode you needed in the standard shipping module. Use whatever weight you think appropriate.

This is the error I get if the lowest and highest weight are the same. However, on another website there doesn't seem to be a problem, both the lowest and highest are zero and the free shipping works perfectly okay

ERROR: The lowest weight must be smaller than the highest weight

Minimum order for free shipping can be set at the Store/Edit Store menu option.
