link Currency Symbol to User Group

Hi,

I am trying to do something that would appear quite simple.... but I can't seem to achieve it.

I linked each user to a user group, and each group has its own price list. All of the prices work correctly. The area that I am struggling with is getting the corresponding currency symbol to show. I know that the default symbol for the site is the vendor currency, is there any hack to make the symbol come from the user group??

If I could find where the global variable for the currency symbol is maybe i could hack that?

I could get round this by creating a different vendor for each user but this does not seem like a good solution.

I am using J1.5 and vm.1.1

I have tried to update the class_currency_display.php to get the symbol i want rather than use $this->symbol - if i change this is messes up other area of the site. What does $this->symbol mean compared to $symbol??
